Quarter finals tomorrow 21feb (local time 1030 am/ 930pm EST )
Ko v Yang
Ko Ping Chung v Warren

Alcaide v Johan
Biado v Liu Haitao

IMHO Biado should be favorite from bottom half to get into final
Top half either big or lil Ko favorite to get into final

Favorite to be champ
Big Ko, Lil Ko , Biado

Dark Horses
Yang
Johann

I usually root for the pinoys, but I would love to see Yang pull this off. If not Yang, then I'm rooting for Warren.

I'm glad that jerk Boyes finally lost. I don't like his attitude one bit. I'm hoping a Pinoy takes the title!

Hello
I have heard of Babica ok
I mean this Babica has been around for looongg time probably since Reagan era lol just kidding. He is only Polish player that most people outside Poland know
Still congrats good job by Poland.. they had 2 in last 6 of a superb strong field
They are in money ..i think few thousands at least

I was just teasing you

Yes, Babica was around like, "almost forever" :) started playing around 1995

The other Polish guy, Mieszko Fortunski is one of the younger generation of Polish players but not the youngest anymore by our standards.

He seems to be on the rise with his form;
2014 9-ball & 10-ball Polish Champion,
2014 Polish Ranking Winner and still on the top of the Ranking.

Carlo Biado seems to be the man to beat.
A little history between Ko Pin Yi and Yang, interesting to see how it turns out.

Looking at the final 8, I would have to say that Johann Chua is the dark horse. The list of players he has beaten to be in the quarter finals is very impressive (Ralf Souquet, Wang Can and Lee Van Corteza) if you compare it to the rest of the final 8. I would not be surprised if he snaps this off.

Warren Kiamco cannot be over looked too. He is on a roll and has been playing great since his win at the DCC. He can certainly give the Ko brothers a run for their money in the upper bracket.

The games will resume starting at 9:30 PM US EST tonight, Friday.

Any of these remaining players can win from here. It's who feels the best today and whose game is sharpest right now. Some days a player will feel great and some days they won't and it can change day by day.

The very best players don't have off days and either play good or great. I have to like Ko Pin Yi from here, but he is no shoe-in by any means. Warren is my sentimental pick and he is on top of his game currently, and I've always liked Chua's style and professionalism. He stands out among all the young Filipino champions as possibly the next great player imo.

Carlo has been poised to break through for a long time now, but can't seem to get over the hump. His heartbreaking SF loss in the last Pacman Cup due to a failure to call the final Ten Ball may still be weighing on him. Will it motivate him to win this time, we will soon see. That would be the feel good story of the year if it happens, and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

I vote for David Alcaide, actual 10ball European Champion, 2º US Open 10ball, 3º World 10ball Championship, etc.

my choise for 1st place is Alcaide he got the stamina it takes to win from here you ll see:wink:

He might have the stamina, but I would say he is a slight underdog against most of the guys left in the field. He is going to need a small upset in each match through to the title if he is to win it.

if Yang wins this WC, the curse is lifted and we will have the chance to see him playing professionally again. :).

Gotta root for Yang and Warren. Both deserve a major title already. Both Ko's usually bow out before the final matches despite flawless play earlier. Chua and Biado could do it if they can handle the pressure. Gonna be exciting, anyone can take it now!

I am rooting for Yang as it is long overdue. Warren is a sentimental favorite also and he is on a roll this year. We like to see the "old guys" open some eyes by snapping this from the younger guys. The younger guys have time on their side but not Yang and Warren:D

Ko Pin Yi would be one to beat and this may be his year. He has best break and when it is working he is hard to beat. Heck even when his break is not working v Mika and Kazakis, he is hard to fade. Yesterday, he raced to 8-0 v Ruben and 4-0 v Nasution. With alt break, it is very tough for his opponent to come back from such big leads. On the last day, it comes down to form and how badly each of them wants to win it

LOL was pulling your leg also. Fortuneski is the one I never heard of but now I know thanks for your info.
Sometime ago there was chatter here about some guy coming to take down some big US tourney. A Hungarian was mentioned then Vilmos and Babica was mentioned also
Good to see the less known countries of Europe doing well. :D
