for me the whole personality of the forum changed

is there any chance we could get back to what
we once had?

Are there any others who feel the same way?

i also miss John Barton and his comments or at least
most of them

is it just me,or is the forum becoming
kind of dull?

As we have found out, "change" is not always a good thing. Then, if you long for things the way they use to be, you are labelled as someone mired in a rut.

I miss when you used to post pictures... oh wait

What??

Again. I have no clue why threads like these even appear. I can't tell you how many times I read about people complaining their asses off concerning the for sale section. How many threads were made about it? A shit ton were made. It has finally been changed to make it a real for sale section, like most other forums, but that's not good enough?? It got rid of the childish behavior (which is amazing how many "kids" are on here). Grown men that act like a bunch of pissy bunnies. Unbelievable.

"Hits a ton", "won't last long", etc. People that jump in to bump a thread or jump in to destroy what the person is selling. I seen it happen plenty of times. Matter of fact it happened to me selling Magic Chalk. First time I sell something on here, and probably one of Chicago RJ's "boys", posts a link to an ebay auction that his "son" was selling the same chalk. LOL. Really? Really pathetic if you ask me (mods removed it- thanks!) If a coward has something to say, be a REAL MAN and just say it to me. Of course, that probably will never happen on an Internet site. I have actually come across some people that were men when their profiles claimed they were women (not on this site, but I don't mingle much). So, I am not really surprised what I find out, nor do I trust what someone puts in a post or a profile. This is the internet, you can be whatever you want, even if it is just BS.

Yes, I went long winded and off topic for a bit. I think you can see why some of us like the for sale section to remain that and not a "for opinions" section.

funny, how most of the folks that don't like it sell cues. Yep, kinda sux that the playing field is even now, and their cues are not on the front page for 3 straight weeks.

Correct, the AzB market wasn't meant for deanoc, and the like, to set up shop for their small businesses. AzB doesn't make a cut off their sales, so why should they get special treatment? :p

For sale

I'll post again in this one like I have in all the others...

I like it the way it is now and I appreciate the folks in charge for listening and making the changes. It was ridiculous the way it was before and a total waste of time. If you want to post in threads, there are plenty in other parts of the forum.

I brought up the idea of a joke forum....fell flat, that speaks loudly from this key board on the current mindset of many that have come onboard these past few years.

Many that come here I feel have great keyboard skills but not great life skills. When I was young I got out allot, and all over the country meeting, seeing and being around others face to face all the time, good and bad. Life skills are created in the real world, in real time, and not by looking at some video and making a quick rash decision on what's right or wrong, but that's the way society has evolved/DEVOLVED. And the media nowadays, is mostly Smoke/Mirrors, leading you down a path you never intended to be on, the Great Hustle so ta speak. Heck when's the last time Jam was talking allot on here. And many that have allot to say, that work within the billiard industry are unwilling to rock the boat, as it might effect their income or whatever? Speaking out constructively is the best, but the keyboard warriors or whatever they are called these days, just keep on keepin' on. Guess ya just gotta do it wrong before ya ever get it right.

Now there taking turns creating threads saying the new way isn't working and no ones selling cues,,
If anyone thinks the comments are what sells cues they should put down the crack pipe and slowly back away

I am always looking to buy a cue, or trade up. I think the forum rules are better now than ever. I only have one problem with the wanted/for sale forum. There are too many ugly cues for sale! Ugly cues just don't sell. I know that my taste of cues aren't the same as everyone else's and they never will be. I get that. However, I could scan through the first 20 pages and not find a handfull of cues that interest me.

A previous thread in this forum asked if the cue market was dead. Yet the OP of that thread sold a nice Paul Mottey cue in less than 5 minutes less than one week from making his post.

Sorry, getting off topic. I liked the old forum and some of the comments that were made. Just really sick of the abusers who had to have their cue on the first page at all times. The only way I see to fix that is to have only the OP be able to bump the thread. All other comments do not bump. Until that happens, I think I prefer the new forum.

I agree with Dean, I dont like the new fs. section.

Is there a better place to buy/sell? I heard something about a facebook page?

Thanks,
Ian

I certainly have not seen any direct effect on my cue sales attributed to the AZ FS forum since the change. If you give readers all the pertinent information in regards to what you have for sale, there is no need for comments IMO. The previous version was out of control. The new rues are more consistent with other for sale forums (i.e., golf clubs, knives, guns, etc.)

It does seem that the comments that used to be posted on the AZ FS forum have now moved to Facebook pages.

but, but, but it was fun to interact and tell a guy that the cue he is selling "hits a ton". Well, a PM does the same thing, no ?

Of course, telling a guy who owns the cue, that his cue is great is like telling Kate Upton she's got a great rack, I mean, I think she knows by now ;)

At the same time there was plenty of threads where a scammer was outed or a previous owner shared the history of a great cue that's available.

You of all people should see the problem with taking away certain freedoms in order to control a single problem that existed within a few.

The issue was and always will be the fact that adding comments bumped the thread. The comments themselves weren't the real problem.

Stifling conversation on a message board of all places was a bad idea and an extreme solution to a simple problem.

A basic mod that will allow comments without actually bumping the thread would go a long way in restoring the For Sale forum to what it once was.

As far as "dealers and flippers" go. They should pay to play. There's nothing wrong with a benefits package for those high volume guys but it needs to help raise some funds for the site at the same time.

But a well respected cue maker posting about the quality of an up and comer can go a long way in establishing that new cue makers reputation.

Or in that same notion a well respected member posting that their ABC Cue hit a ton or that they were happy with their purchase.

These are all things that sellers value. Its matter of making an adjustment to the forum so that those comments of value don't come at the expense of everyone else.

The previous structure in the WFS had deteriorated to the point that it was almost dead.
It's obvious to me what caused the issues, and it has nothing to do with the actual rules or rule changes.
The forum is slowly healing from what it had become, and the new structure has
really silenced a lot of the morons, cheaters, and assholes.
Social media is taking over in a big way, and it will be interesting to see how this forum develops in the next few years.
The AZ administration should utilize more resources from the successful sellers and really figure this thing out.
It's time for a meeting>>

Yep, could not agree anymore. Too many non-sellers blasting posts without having anything better to do and are too quick to form their own opinions.

Facebook page? Singular? There are dozens of billiards pages on FB and for the most part they all contain the same posts.

Unfortunately, because of the number of billiards pages, after they are outed, scammers and thieves just move to a different page to find their next victim.

I visit a few of the FB pages but prefer the format of a forum rather than scrolling past picture after picture after picture of cues that don't interest me as well as comments from people that really know very little.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why there are so many of the FB pages covering the same subject.
