Warm ups tomorrow , I hope I'm not the only noob playing. They still didn't post where the player meeting is.

No players meeting for the Warm-up. They'll have boards set up with brackets. The TD will make announcements from time to time regarding rules, etc.

Is the Expo worth going to for a day if you aren't planning on playing or buying a custom cue? Is there enough to occupy a person for 6-8 hours or is it mostly geared towards players and some custom cue makers??

Yes. You can easily exhaust much more than 6-8 hours just "window shopping" among the vendors (cue makers and others) and watching tournaments. Here is info on the pro events: http://www.superbilliardsexpo.com/proevents.html. Note that the pro 10-Ball event has a large number of top players entered.

There are the pro events. Don't think there are rides or anything if you're looking for other types of fun LOL.

Exhibition matches. There is a pool/3 cushion challenge, and I'm sure more things going on. If you go on the weekend, the Junior PA State Championship will be going on, it's the same Junior tournament they had but it's not also called the State Championship after BEF started to take a hand in those.

#GREATESTWEEKEND!

I said F it and drove over after work yesterday(1.5hrs)to play the warmup. Got home a little after midnight and had to be up a 4 for work - I feel wonderful LOL

Figured I could pick up my Diamond ball polisher, but got there too late or just didn't see anybody, they're probably resting up after setting everything up

Btw, the single polishers are $400 for single platter - expo special.

Jealous of everyone there already!! I'll be driving up after work tomorrow.
Can't wait!!
Getting reports from a work bud who is in the Open Amateur.

If just getting a day pass, are you able to shoot around during the day or is that not until midnight?

I know there are some empty tables especially on Sun. but not sure if you can use them. Some seem to but they might have player passes and just got knocked out.
There used to be an action table going during the day at the old VF location.
Not sure about Oaks. Only watched Pros last year at Edison.
And Oaks is supposed to be bigger than in 2012. The last time it was here.

From past experience, I never had a problem jumping in on an open table. If there is a scheduled match, and the players show up, then common sense and courtesy to move to another table so the players can warm up. If you show up to your assigned table, and people are already playing, then ask and let them know.

Right after you walk past the checkers, the action room is on your immediate left.

I'll repost here, my comments from the other thread. In a nutshell, come on down if you can--it's been great!

-------
I'd give it a B+. There are things that could be improved, but overall, I think they've done a nice job. There is a lot of space and it's more pool tables and people than I've ever seen assembled together--yet you don't feel like you're constantly in a stampede. There really is a lot of space and things are spread out nicely.

The food selection looks good to me. Not gourmet, by any means, but a good selection of food.

I think that the lighting is not great for the open amateur event. The ceilings are so high that the lighting is pretty far away. I don't think there is anything they could do about that though.

The action/challenge/midnight room feels like an airplane hanger with a concrete floor and only about 16 Diamond tables (if that many) widely scattered. Too bad that they couldn't get 3 times as many in that room (there is space there!). During the day, those are the only practice tables and each one may have 4-6 challengers, so if you don't keep the table, you're waiting about 20-30 minutes before your turn comes up.

I've watched some of the pro matches and the bleachers provide a nice vantage point, but are not very comfortable. I can only do 1 hour stretches, at most, before I have to walk around to keep my back loose. You can pay for VIP seats, but they are table level, and while closer, I don't think they give as good a perspective.

Unfortunately, I did not win any matches in the Warmup and Open, but I did make a nice score at the casino when I (in a spur of the moment decision) decided to put $15 on 21 on the roulette, and hit it! I turned that into $500, and immediately tipped the wheel spinner $10 and cashed out!

I do encourage everyone to come as this is really an amazing epicenter of pool activity for these few days.
