My truck has 120 K on it. Same difference. I made a couple of valid points in my last post. But instead of manning up and answering them, (Probably because you really can't), you chose to attempt to berate me by mentioning that out of 18 K posts, only 1% or 180 were of any use.

Serious, I have received more than 180 Greenies, for my jokes alone. You have no idea how good it makes me feel when I get a Greenie, and it says, "Thanks for the Laugh". And many more for the threads that I try and answer repair questions on, where I don't try and sell people anything.

Dave used to drop in and do some jokes in our Joke thread until Barton screwed that one up for him and us. He hasn't been back since.

I would venture a wild guess and say that Barton is one of the guys that have been blowing in your ear tho. He won't be back at AZ anytime soon. I guess that should tell you how much his opinions are valued. I wish that he didn't have my main email tho. Every time I mention his name, I get an email that if I printed it out, it would be a 1/4 mile.

I just don't feel the need to express those opinions. If the idiots in that area who don't agree with me are that stupid, I can't help them.

I always find it interesting that when people happen across individuals discussing subject matter that makes them feel uncomfortable. They begin sniveling and proceed to denigrate those individuals and start demanding somebody put a stop to it.

Most hot button issue would not be hot button issues if the people complaining about the people discussing them opened their minds and actually became part of the conversation and worked towards educating themselves and began generating ideas and finding solutions.

Individuals that run and hide from discussions concerning problems in the world and demanding silence from those that are concerned and are educating themselves on these matters are part of the problem.

I am aware you have strong opinions on some of the subject matter. However you make the decision not to air them on the forum and stay away from NPR much of the time. Its a personal decision and probably a good tactical one considering you are also running a business.

I would suggest you consider the quality of the character of individuals who approach you to silence members of your site simply because they are uncomfortable with and do not approve of select conversations that appear to be an affront to their tender sensibilities.

We see to much of this political correctness nonsense in society in the news virtually every day. An individual comes out and reasonably states his/her case. Next thing that happens a firestorm is created by the perpetually offended crowd who's sole objective is to shut down the speech of the individual who has dared voice something that goes against their thinking.

Do you really want to listen to advice from people who preach that level of intolerance while at the same time claiming that they are the reasonable ones?

I would suggest that if you choose to silence NPR on the advice from individuals that are uncomfortable with people on both sides of an issue exercising their freedom of speech to vigorously express, explain, debate and defend their positions, you will put yourself in the camp that only believes in freedom of expression when its on their terms and aligns with their prevailing line beliefs and thinking.

I believe such a decision would ill serve you on a personal level and more broadly a multitude of members on this site.

There are a lot AZB lurkers that spend time on NPR. If you track the views count on many of the threads. They far exceed the amount of posts that have been made.
Over the course of the years that I have been posting here I have gotten a quantity of positive affirmation in both PM's and rep from individuals that do not participate, but have expressed that they enjoy the subject matter. Some members actually come to NPR for their news because the topic matter is often very broad.
I also know that members that have a differing view than my own have had the same experience.

There is always a common thread to individuals like RKC and Colonel. They are perpetually offended by individuals that dare discuss subject matter in a public setting that they personally find objectionable . They and individuals like them inevitably resort to derisive commentary targeting those individuals with the ultimate goal being to shut the discussion down.

Such individuals appear to me to stand in opposition the American spirit which has in the past always embraced open and public debate.

I think you are a complete tool for even mentioning it. You put the information out there in a public forum.

My mother used to call it being an "Indian Giver". I'm sure that is not a PC term these days, and I'm certain not a true statement in it's pure form... but I knew what she meant by it, and I'm sure you do as well.

There is no other pool Web site in the world with as much, or even close to the amount of information I've posted here on AZB for people to learn from for free about pool tables. So, you might say I've paid for my gold membership over and over again, by not charging for all the help in educating the AZB members about their pool tables:grin:

Its much appreciated. The fallout of Vietnam was a raw deal for our service members and in no was deserved.

I will wave the flag all I want in defense in others.
Especially when somebody is arrogant enough to stipulate when, where and how an individual dose and dose not have the right to express themselves.

What have I done? I have not served if that is what you are asking. However I participate in our society and in business commerce along with millions of other entrepreneurial individuals such as yourself. Both of which are actions that are fundamental to the health of our nation. So by virtue of my participation I am one small part strengthening the economic backbone of the nation.

While many quoted my post & their take on it I will choose this one to respond to. I clicked the link & if you go to it yourself you'll see I was the 1st poster in that thread after the OP.

I understand the value of free speech, one of our fundamental rights as Americans. I also understand as I was raised a certain way that certain subjects are polarizing and shouldn't be broached in social settings because of their polarizing nature, politics and religion being the key ones. In social settings it's inevitable with a gathering of many people you will find groups from both sides of a fence on the 2 aforementioned subjects as they are subjects people feel very strongly about which will lead to vehement arguments & rile up the herd.

I again reiterate I feel that in any forum there is a valid place for a sub forum so members can discuss their interests outside of the subject matter of the forum.

I also understand why every forum I belong to on other interests I have ban discussion on the 2 subjects I listed above, because it leads to the shenanigans that go on here in NPR. In the thread you linked the OP laments finding the 1st 10 threads about these 2 subjects when he goes to NPR. As I alluded to in my earlier post it's similar for myself with the exception that with the phone app I use to view this forum the timeline lists the most recent posts from ALL sub forums and it's depressing to come to the site & see the first 8 out of 10 threads being on these subjects, instead of anything pool related or if from NPR about actual hobbies or other interests members have. It's the same political, religious, racial stuff posted by the usual suspects. I stand by my assertion that this forum would be better off without these 2 subjects & it's not about censorship of free speech, it's about keeping a social interaction social instead of a full scale melee. While some have defended those I named in an earlier post stating one of those posters talks about his garden & posts pics of it I reply that for every innocuous thread like that he posts 20 on polarizing subjects. Several of those I named post ONLY about polarizing subjects and I have never seen them post on anything else much less the subject of this forum. I believe NPR is needed, I also believe politics and religious threads aren't. Lastly I truly believe if you remove those 2 subjects that many of those I named would never frequent this forum again as that is why they're here, not for billiards and the occasional discussion on a hobby, just for the politics. Perhaps since that is their main interest they should frequent forums where that is the subject matter as it would be better suited there and leave NPR for discussions about hobbies and other interests as it was intended to be instead of a soapbox for their political, religious & racial agenda.
