I have a question that is begging to be answered?

Keep in mind, when you buy a furniture style for what ever price you pay, the second it's delivered and set up....it just lost at least half the value it was bought for:eek:

This is for my wifes parents townhome. They are in their 70s and will not care about retail value after it is setup. They probably only care that it looks decent and is in their budget range. Since I will be playing on it occasionally with my wife I am concerned about their budget as well as the playability. I am leaning more toward the Olhausen Belmont but am waiting to hear back from AE Schmidt. I love Diamonds but they are higher than the $3k budget. They also will want a new table, not a used craigslist. Anyway, thanks for the input guys.

If you care more about quality so you can play on it, putting Simonis 860 on a table with thin light rails and flawed cheap rubber won't really help much. If space isn't an issue, go with the GC. You won't be disappointed. Economical and quality.

Price brotha...how much for a new GC barbox? They don't want a used table. Their budget is $3k and they will want a couple of items included (set of balls, pool table cover, rack, etc). Options slim down here. We aren't pros and they aren't going to notice what you mentioned IF they ever even play on it. They may not play at all lol.

If new is the main requirement, then go with an Olhausen.

You either have excellent in-laws or they are so bad that they need to resort to bribery to get you to come visit!

How so? Just curious? Are they very good quality, just not your typical "players" tables ? I know they are still made in USA though. Thanks,

Because if new is a requirement, and the spending limit is 3k, then a person would have to be looking more at an entry level pool table, so with them requirements, Olhausen fist the bill better than any other tables made today, as most in that price range are going to either be coming in from China, or made so cheap they won't hold up in time, cushions won't last, and will have an even worse resale value.

$3k or less...they are in their 70s and only want the table for my wife and I to play on as well as any other relatives that may stop by. They don't care about owning an expensive Gold Crown regardless if it is the best table out there...thinking budget wise here in Iowa.

Iowa CL just had a GC looked pretty nice also talk to Rob B here he has a damn nice looking/playing AMF Grand Prix for 3K Had a ton of work done on it.

I didn't read all of the replies but have to say I like you attitude. I bought my house based on several factors one being it had to have room for a diamond 9ft. I will need cloth in a year or 2. Only me playing on the table. Do you ever travel out to Virginia? P.M. me if you do maybe we can make future plans.

You just didn't look far enough down the page to see the Diamond section. But I have a hunch you might not agree with everything said there.

The Diamond tables didn't even make it in the top tier 4...LOL and there is no rail bolt on a Diamond that bolts through the slate seam...LOL their pricing on Diamonds is a joke, so they were doing nothing but downgrading the Diamond tables....wonder why? $200-$500 for a Diamond home table used?? $1,500 tops for a used Professional? ...where?

I've been in them in NY, TX, CA, MO....they all had AE Schmidt...with rock hard cushions.

Ah yes it was an AE Schmidt I was shooting on when the end rail flipped off the table and fell onto the floor.

Could explain why the place is closed now.

Oh, yeah? Well, I have an answer that's begging to be questioned. How do you get snot out of corduroy?
