Finally figured out what has been holding me back...

I recently got back into playing after a while and have consumed all the instructional materials I can find, I am practicing often, and waiting on my new Diamond table to be delivered in a few weeks :)

I realized today that the one thing holding me back is obvious! I don't have a pool nickname...

So , give me a nickname so I can move on to world pool domination, I promise I'll credit you during my HOF induction.

Some info to help:

I'm 42 years old, born in Baltimore. 6ft tall and slender with thinning hair and a greying goatee but still look a few years younger than my age. I spent 8 years in the Air Force in the 90's, and I now work from home doing software engineering & management for Cisco. At my best I was probably playing at a B level, currently I'm playing at low C. My favorite foods are cheeseburgers and steamed crabs. I also enjoy playing video games and guitar.

You def need a good pool nickname. People in my league call me Doc, cause I'm a doctor, but my nickname among close friends in our pool hall is Side Pocket Ry because when first starting I hated shooting balls into the side pocket and now I never miss them.

For you I'd go Cornbread because of your handle, or Crabby _____ what ever your first name is.

No pool gloves for me, I don't sweat much... Baltimore Bill is good but a bit generic...

Maybe something like Baltimore Slim, or APA 4, lol....

Did you say Air Force?

Off he goes looking for nine ball action,
Driving fast to the pool hall
Here he comes walkin' to a Diamond table
No Gold Crowns for this Baltimore son
Down he goes, prepping to smash the cue ball
He cracks them hard, so says the gun
The nine falls in and he wins again. Hey!
Nothin' kills Binary Bill cept Alt-F4!

Best I can do.

.....still trying to get my head around this....

You post on AZ as WillyCornbread......
....and you're looking for a nick name?

Nice :) A fellow airman, or did you google the Air Force song?

Yea, confusing for sure. WillyCornbread is just a username I chose 18 years ago when I started doing things online... Not sure if it's appropriate for a pool nickname or not - I've been shying away from it out of some sort of misguided 'respect' for the name because of all the Cornbread Red stories I've heard....

I think the name is cool.
Red would've liked it.

Nick Varner likes to tell a story....
At his father's room in Owensboro, Cornbread Red played a guy need Cornflakes....
....he busted 'Flakes, his backers and all his friends.

A few months later he went back......
...when he walked into the room, one of the regulars said....
"There's that cereal killer!"

ANY name is appropriate for a nickname, sir.
Willy Cornbread is great!
Go with it. Why change long-standing brand?

Solved. Next?

Nicknames are usually bestowed upon one by the group of friends or associates which are very familiar with the person and his habits, looks, disposition etc. Asking a public forum to give you a name to use is, how should I say it ... a little weird. No offense intended ... if it works for you fine. Just my $.02!

Thanks for all the contributions, fun thread.

I'm going to stick with Willy Cornbread as long as it doesn't sound like I am comparing myself to Red. Someone called me that in like 9th grade once (was eating cornbread in math class) and I then used it when I started needing usernames.

Thanks for the help, you are all in trouble now since I'm sure it was the only thing stopping me from going pro ;)
