I get a kick out of the Ross/Amy relationship.
I will watch this season.
I will watch this season.
The people on the show got paid pretty well, especially considering the amount of "work" they had to do.
The people on the show were casts for their personality, for the most part.
I always thought that for "first season" of anything the pay was fairly minimal "like Jersey Shore" not much pay at first but by the last season they were making bank. Or like "The Big Bang Theory" every year they brought the cast back the higher the paycheck.
I could be wrong too.
They're not gonna buy a yacht but they got paid pretty well for 2 months of arguing in a pool room a few days a week.
Would it be safe to say that Amy was able to make her down payment for her new car all on her own?
I have no idea.. I don't know her.
I just don't like false information for no reason.
If I lived in NY and was better than the people on the show, I'd be pissed as hell if I heard them talking about the top 5 players in NY when I knew better. Here is some dude on TV just talking non-sense about a real pool room with real players, just with fake standings, when the REAL top 5 players just sit there and know that there are a few thousand people that will think it's a real list. In military terms it's called "stolen valor" when you take credit for something you did not do.
I think every player in NY should be jumping for joy. Half the good bar players in the U.S. Are packing up and heading to NY to get rich huslin pool!

I just can't stand pool shows that don't stick to reality! Many times I see shots that are completely staged and against the rules. At one point there was a 1-8 combo with just the 9 left on the table. Can anyone even imagine a rack of 9 ball with just the 1, 8, and 9 left? At the 54 minute mark of the first episode, Emily clearly shoots the 2 ball in the corner with the 1 ball sitting just to the right of her shot. Umm, wtf?
A little reality in reality TV would certainly help.
*edit* Cripes! just 2 minutes later there is a cut shot (cut shot as in TV cut shots) where she hits a ball in the corner and comes out 2 rails. She makes the ball (which I couldn't see because the cut shot came in after she got the ball in) but as you watch the cue ball travel the 1 ball is CLEARLY up against the other rail. What ball did she just shoot in? The zero ball maybe?
Anyone expecting a real pool show, where pool is the focus don't hold your breath. This is strictly for entertainment purposes and is in no way ever going to elevate pool to a golf like phenomenon. As far as pleasing pool players, it ain't happening. You got guys saying they should play one pocket. The most boring game to watch of all time, it's literally more fun watching paint dry. Rarely is there a match worth watching. No doubt it's a great game for a pool player, but this is exactly the problem with making us content. It's not worth it, so making it a guilty pleasure kinda show is smart. They should make it look fun, and I still think they should feature prominent pros with a backstory, nothing crazy, a quick info on what and who they are and than have them play and show some real pool shots. That would be a best way to showcase some pool to please us and still maintain the reality shit show.Did any of you seriously think you were going to get an Emmy award winning reality series about pool hall culture with this show? I wasn't looking for a 60 minutes documentary segment or geometry/physics lesson... If you were expecting something profound, then I'm not surprised you're disappointed.
I'm a pool player and, as such, had a pretty good idea what to expect from spending countless hours in poolhalls all over the world, the name of the show and from having seen other reality shows. And as much as I have felt for a long time that pool gambling has had a negative effect on the public opinion of pool, I was entertained in a "guilty pleasure" kind of way as I watched.
I'll DVR and watch the rest of the series and hope it makes it to another season... and maybe it will inspire additional pool TV shows that will appeal to more serious pool audience. But, you gotta build that audience first and, let's face it, us pool hall junkies are a dying breed...
IMHO, you gotta look through the crap and find the entertainment value in the content you can identify with and fade what you don't like...
At this point, it is what it is... And pool is finally back on TV for a while....
Yay, I guess...![]()
Agreed,, its just good to see anything pool related on tv.Maybe because I'm from NY that I find the show pretty good. I thought Mike D came off better than I would have thought. I thought Emily came across pretty good. The godfather was the best actor IMO, but "the kiss my ring scene" was a bit cheesy. Don't forget, this was the first 2 episodes and I'm sure they all were a bit nervous and will relax more as they do more shows. This is by far the best pool related TV show I've seen. I will watch more episodes for sure. Johnnyt
have not seen but sure I would ....cringe
In episode three i hear a pool table gets flipped over.. All because he lost a 10$ game.

I'm skeptical that 1P can be made exciting for TV - too much safety play to fire up the masses. Even pool players who don't play it find it boring to watch.I think they could easily include some one pocket and have it be exciting. I don't think anyone is proposing showing a full one pocket game or match, a safety battle, or an uptable game.
There are lots of fancy multi-rail shots in one pocket, more than in 9-ball. The show has demonstrated the graphical ability to explain a situation like this one: "I have to three rail the 6-ball at my hole, and if I don't put my cue ball right here, I'll lose the game. But if I do put my cueball here and make the shot, I win." Show the shot. A properly edited 8 & Out could also be pretty exciting.

Personally, I love to watch a good 1P match, but what are the odds we'd see one with this cast, and what are the odds that many of the viewers would appreciate it anyway?
