I remember watching the trailer before episode 1 aired and I saw two guys in the ring sparring, I wonder if these two are the ones?
I stopped by Steinway that day, and did something considered sacrilegious. I had a Pre-Franklin Southwest shaft, that I bought from Emily Duddy's BF, and was playing with it on a SW tribute cue a couple of tables away. They say is there bad mojo when you do stuff like that![]()
I simply love the show....
Hustlers..
Street Outlaws
Counts Kustoms
Gas Monkey
<~~~~~~~missing Monster Garage
Take away reality TV and you got the news and Halmark
Screw that:![]()
Although I appreciate the guys getting this on TV, Why The F*** can't pool be presented on television as sophisticated, professional, and without adversary?

Because it's not? lol
Think about it, professional sophisticated pool would be just as unrealistic as any reality tv show. This is what we get because it's very close to the real thing. The characters on The Hustlers are real people and chances are we all know someone who acts just like each of them.
Everyone knows an Amy and a Gary. Consider Barry Behrman for a moment. He's a walking reality tv show. Earl Strickland. Barton vs Lou = ridiculous tv. Scooter. Minnesota Fats. Ralph Greenleaf. Masked Marvel X. The man dressed as a woman who hustled games for over 20 years. Countless incidents of people being cracked over the head with a pool cue. It's always been this way.
It's closer to reality than some want to admit, Jerry Springer is too. The situations need to be staged to capture it on film but I assure you those are real rednecks doing what comes naturally. None of what you have seen on The Hustlers is beyond what any real hustler would or could do.
I believe that the person you responded to would just like to see the bar raised a little. There really are some interesting and educated pool players out there. Although it could be, not everything has to be geared to the lowest common denominator.

Hell with it........ I'm might as well speak my mind too.
What's wrong with pool is "cannabalism"
That eat your own attitude. Instead of turning it to the Husters and letting a TV play through the commercials in one of your rooms you choose to get in the public eye as much as possible and talk shit about it. Beats all I've ever seen
You can't just wish it well and contribute by playing your TVs. Hell no, half of what I hear is I haven't even watched one episode.... Bunch of negative ass people who just want to tear something down for no reason. You get what you put in..... Not a damn thing

Pool isn't meant for TV, no more so than a TruTV show about checkers players. Take a look at some of the most successful "reality" shows out there and see what people say about them.
Anytime someone talks about "The Bachelor" or "Dancing with the Stars" it's all negative criticisms. People like to be negative. People feel that putting down on others is fun and they feel better about themselves. If you tell me you've seen one of those shows and thought "That chick looks like a bimbo" or "That guy is an idiot," then you're a hypocrite.
Here we go again , and I'll repeat for the 100th time the color of money brought a small fraction of people to pool compared with the APA .. Leagues whether it be APA , BCA TAP have carried pool for decades ,, the league system is designed to have players go up teams have to break up and bring in lower level players ,, every league is looking for new players who can play their a hot comoady,, the show might bring in a few stragglers but thats about it ,,Correctomundo! If a better, more intriguing idea comes along, then may it be blessed and successful. Otherwise, pool is on TV and that's better than nothing. Pop culture is the only thing proven to supercharge the industry...the boom lasts for a few years, then slowly dies. And everyone complains, but if there weren't a Hustler and a Color of Money, you wouldn't see a pool room anywhere. They'd have all closed by around 1965 or so. As bad as some might think this show is, the ego trip of a viewer who would never take the effort to go to a pool room will whisper, I could beat that girl, she's a pro? Then, he goes with his friends to Amsterdam's or some place and next thing you know, he's bought a Joss cue, joined a league team and is hooked...another generation of pool fanatics is born and the industry lurches on for another 10 years or so.
I dont see mma fans dogging TUF.

I agree, hang. "To shut up and play" would be truly boring to the viewers.
I don't like my game being represented so as to embolden any
"harmful" stereotypes that are out there already.
Again however, I give credit to the producers for generating a pool product.
This seems like a no-win situation for me personally:
if this show eventually bombs, the pool image the show is trying to evoke goes away.
If it does well, the viewing public will be given a untrue picture of the professional,
artistic, and technical game really is.
Oh, the agony!![]()
