According to wpa website. Nick the Greek, Mika, van den berg, and klatt among others that are ahead of toasty. Just won the bar box 10 ball and the world 14.1 title. This ranking is ridiculous and I know, wpa doesn't take those events in to account but ranked at 29 for him is just crazy. Just my opinion.

How can it be ridiculous? There are events you must play in and finish high. Apparently he either didnt play in enough of them or didnt finish ahead of 28 of them. It is COMPLETELY OBJECTIVE!!

If you ask Toasty, he will tell you it is totally the way it should be. I will also note when congratulated in an official interview for winning the US 10 Ball Open, he corrected him and said he won the US Open 10 Ball BAR TABLE Championship. Keep it real Toasty. Screw attention seeking ego maniacs.

You really need to realize the ratings in BarTable, 7 footers, is no different than 9 footers. The data is there.

You need to know it is NOT a WPA Rankings event. The OP is complaining of his WPA RANKING BEING TWENTY NINE!! (even though he knows it's not a ranking event -wtf?)

So you are dismissing the USBTC, because you don't like bar tables, and dismissing the 14.1 event, because it's unsanctioned... Please, tell us what you would deem worthy.

BTW, IMO, WPA Rankings are stupid.
 
Obviously, there are limitations here, but if these ratings jump-start the process of gradually developing a power-ratings methodology with which we can all live, I'm all for it.

Yes, there are some problems here, but this could be the beginning of something positive, so I'm keeping an open mind. The WPA rankings methodology will likely evolve over time.

That ranking don't mean chit anyhow. Some play in every event and are ranked higher, doesn't mean they are half as good as some others.

It's like that everywhere in pool rankings.

WPA rankings are WPA rankings. I dismiss the 14.1 event because it is not sanctioned. Frankly, I can't blame WPA for not wanting their name associated with Charlie Williams..Read up on him on the forum. if you wonder why that is. That being said I'm in no way dismissing Thorstens win as trivial. It just wasn't a sanctioned event is all.

When it comes to bar tables, you are right. I hate that this is what it has come to: Grown ass men playing on kiddie tables! I'm not saying it's not skillfull, but it isn't pool and should not be called as such. They should invent a new name for it, and I have quite a few suggestions;) Would you sanction a Virtual Pool event, if that event perfectly ranked players after their skill? I wouldn't. I love the game of pool, which is traditionally played on 9 and 10 foot tables. 6 foot and 7 foot tables should have no place in the professional sport of pool.

Earl Strickland has said a lot of bullshit over the years, but in this interview he makes more sense than he ever has before or since, he makes a lot of good points on the difference between 9 and 10 foot tables throughout. Some of it even applies to the difference between 7 and 9 footers, although he doesn't specifically address that topic. He even appears somewhat humble! It think it should be required viewing for anyone:
