This shot is possible... the question is how!

I would have bet against it up until 10 minutes ago!

I wonder if anyone else knows how it can be done.

The white line is the CB's path, on a path that almost returns to it's starting point, arcing well beyond 180 degrees.

The ball is even weighted, no bias.

The table is level.


Who wants to guess, or back against it, or expose the secret of a shot that may bankrupt the geekiest of billiard enthusiasts?

As for clues... I'll offer what I can without divulging the secret too soon.

Note: The circularish path is my best attempt in paintbrush to show what is a smooth path taking this route.

Neither voodoo or cylops.... I have video to prove the concept... keep guessing :)

FWIW: ! would not guarantee 360 degrees, more like 250 degrees minimum turn, but could get to 300.

Another clue.... no fans, no wind.

Place a circle of balls on the outside of the white ring and let the cue ball carom off of each ball, going around the circle.
 
One legal stroke, correct? As opposed to hitting the CB multiple times as it moves like on some trick shots? Standard equipment? (no silicon, wax, etc?)

Spray silicone?

If you made a shot like that in a game, it would kill your action for life.
 
One more question... don't the 3C trick shot guys do shots similar to this? Is the difference with yours how "complete" the circle is?
 
The spin on the cueball would have to change direction for the cueball to complete a circle which would be impossible with one stroke unless there was sometype of trick involved.

What if you were to spin the cueball in place with your hand first and then strike it with a masse stoke?

If its not voodoo...... its this..... a trick shot called 'Around the frying pan' to pocket a side hanger. You put the 8 in the middle of the circle to symbolize the frying pan.

I still say its fooking voodoo though.........

Correct, no pushing of the ball, 1 pure 3 millisecond hit or whatever the experts have told us.

And re Silicon as you and Tate asked, in fact, this shot will be easier on a stickier cloth I think.

LOL.... no magic, pure physics.

If no works it out after 500 views, I'll explain how to do this. It's a shot you all could play within a few tries given this knowledge.

We're at approx 110 views now, so ask questions, refresh or make wild guesses until the answer is revealed.

Grab a short cue, reverse your back hand and masse the snot out of it. It is kind of hard to fathom without seeing it in person.

Basically like the old Harley Davidson T shirt used to say "If I had to explain it you would not understand it."
