Do I understand this right? There are 60 entries at this time @ $1000 each =60k. 15 of the 60 are free entries that nobody put the $1000 a pop in for= so only 45k to payout as of now? Johnnyt

With 45 paid entrants so far, I'd say the prize fund currently stands at $120,000 -- the $75,000 guaranteed added money plus the $45,000 in entry fees.

I'm not talking about the added money (75K). I'm just talking about the entry fee money. Are the 15 free past champions entries paid (1K each) by anybody, if not the other paying players are paying for the 15...not Barry. Johnnyt

Discussed on here previously. They are just free this year; no one is putting in entry fees for them.
 
Prior to the last couple of years the past winners always got free entry you would see old past winners that with all due respect were always two and out. That was given as a respect to their past win.

Barry is not GIVING anything. The paying players are paying for the 15. Johnnyt
 
I have never participated or been to the Open. Please criticize it enough where everyone drops out and I can enter and win the Open!
 
If I was a player entered, Id be concerned. 25% of the field comped at $1k an entry, combined with the past payout history issues and this seems like its a potential powderkeg of drama waiting to explode.

Your argument is perfectly valid here Johnny,i am just mesmerized by the fact that so many just dont get it...i guess it just takes some effort to actually THINK
 
Getting close to the time for an entry fee cut again but it wont be to fill the field, it will be uh uh uh BB being kind to poor people and giving back to the game!
 
whats the point of this? im not trying to pick on you johnny but really why another us open thread...the first day of the tournament there will be x amount of players and entries it is what it is at this point . if you go or spend as a spectator or buy the ppv or buy a dvd that would be great but i dont see why you get so twisted up when aside from making some forum fodder what does this tournament do to affect your well being?
