Assistance with a table in the garage

Does anyone have recommendations for making a garage bearable to play pool in? I'm thinking new fiberglass door, seal it up, loads of insulation, dehumidifier, small heating/cooling setup.

I hit the jackpot and got a great table today, it must be played on, and I can't fit it in my house without major work.
 
Here's what I did: Carpet with padding, pony wall with curtain to hide all the tools and storage, craigs list finds for furniture and church pew for seating. Pictures show the rest, but the best thing I did was insulate the garage door with sheathing and wrap with matching material. About 20 degrees cooler in room since.







 
Nice job:) Does your garage door still function? Did you glue insulation to it? How did you do the door part?

I'm thinking heated tiles for flooring...the Rochester climate needs it.
....or a sub floor....Dricore

Yes, garage door still functions the way I did the post to secure wall. Cut panels to fit, stapled material to panels, and they press fit in.

I also dropped two vents from existing a/c and heat, then installed a mini split 18000 btu stand alone unit to keep it comfortable even in Texas weather.

You gave some good advice, but.... UGH wow.
 
I scored a 9' that I really want to set up to play on, but my current configuration has a bar box easily. A 9' table would require emptying the living room.

Merlin, thank you for the ideas. I have an old wooden door that is showing its age. I will be going the fiberglass route and adding extra insulation like you did. I will also be adding heavy sealing weatherstripping to the edges. The door to the outside is very modern, but a window in the side wall is just wood tacked up. I will be replacing that.

pt109, puns aside, the heated tiles were already on my mind. I just don't know how easy it is to level a table on some of those. I measured the pitch and the floor will be easy to setup on, but not sure how some of those tiles compress over time with 1000 pounds of weight on them.
 
My initial plans were to enclose the garage, seal up the door, install, doors etc but my city code says if you have a garage it must "appear" to be as built, no closing in. You never realize how much you will miss that garage door opener till its gone.

Ill take more pics later today showing its present configuration. That's a 9' Brunswick and I never touch a wall while playing and I'm a bigger guy too.
 
Any idea how level your garage floor is? I would expect Rochester to have strict codes. Some garages, it's not so obvious how much slope there is until you put a pool table in there. You might end up hunched over at one end and on your tip toes at the other.

He is correct. I go from one end with no shims to the other with almost an inch. Get full size shims the same size as your footing and you cant even tell it. Excellent point to bring up tho Cornerman

2 inch drop over 10 feet.

I figure it will be noticeable, but not terrible

There's no code against it here as long as I get adjustable louvers.

I'm only supplementing with the indoor, I'm putting a separate unit out there. Something small.
