Exactly sir.Loads of PPV events on Youtube, huh? :roll eyes:
You have no business plan. The operational costs of sites like youtube are astronomical, never mind the prohibitive capital investment required. To even suggest an independent alternative could be funded purely through advertising revenue for a site whose content is restricted to a niche sport is the special kind of crazy reserved for the wilfully ignorant.
You've already dodged a challenge to cite your source of $500,000 (because it's pure fantasy) and you've openly admitted one of your goals is to make money for yourself.
Best of luck in your endeavours, but, I'm out!
So you just inadvertently disrespected every pool player on earth with that comment. That their art and talent is worth nothing? Are you in the right forum?
name one pool player has gotten a check from youtube for a video in which they were one of the players in a video??? can any of you name one? probably not....but i bet there was a check issued to someone who filmed the player .... or the person who posted it... but did they pay the player ? answer me that just one of you give me a name.........
You have a basic misconception -
Let's for a moment just go with the premise that your $500,000 claim is correct and can be proven. So you are claiming the pool players are entitled to a share of that. One major problem....there's no profit there. YouTube as a company breaks even or slightly loses money for Google. Their server maintenance costs are prohibitive and every person with AdBlock running on their browser costs them money every time they go to YouTube.
So yes, YouTube is bringing in money from the views in their site, but there is NO profit to be distributed in their current model.
Please read and share this facebook post!! It is very important for pool players.....
maybe so ... i just want to see them make money so then maybe the ones who have fallen off and become degenerate would have a reason to straighten upErica --
This is what you need to do. You need to teach each pool player to have their own channel. Then any time there is a video of them on a stream, it gets posted to their channel. Once they get enough views, they can get paid by YouTube. So if you appear on BigTrucks stream you agree to do so to be paid by him and you also get the right to the video and you get paid in the future as well. Then each player can promote themselves and get 40 million followers like the video game expert. They could even make their own videos - some pool related, some just showing their personalities that make them so special.
craZyErica ... what a screen name ... lol ... craZy is why we love ya!
About 3-4 years ago Youtube sent me a check for $34.95. Now, it wasn't worth the bullshit I had to go through to monetize my video - but I did get paid. I don't have many matches posted on Youtube - mostly just instructional stuff and straight pool runs from Derby City mixed in with a couple of old ESPN matches - but, Erica, if you tell me where the players can make a little something-something from those videos - I'll post them there and take them off of Youtube immediately.

All of you can listen to my goofy ass, plus Jason "Buffalo" Hunt go over some of these posts on this thread for today.
I think we'll be doing this sort of thing every week, to bring awareness to the cause.

Yes, billiard videos on YouTube receive over 100 million views a year, especially the videos that or "full length".
thanks david i will get with you via facebook and show you our business model. im not asking anyone to take videos down , just moving forward i would like for ppl to post full length pool matches or instructions to the new pool based website but to also still use youtube for the teasers i will get up with you tomorrow
Could you provide a few links? I found a couple carambola videos with >1mil views. Not the common case, and even so a tiny viewership compared to what is needed to really be successful.
How do you think the "degenerates" you speak of would do?
You want to talk page views? You need Psy to do a "billiards video" - you might not be able to stand it, but that's what gets the lions share of views on Youtube these days. (2,475,979,335 and counting for that video...)
