Real Pool Reality Show crowdfunding

Asking why don't you finance your own ideas is a crappy question ?
Well that's a first

My question wasn't meant to be crappy, It was asked to know if you could finance it yourself and if you believe in your own ideas to the point your are willing to risk your own money.

The only reason I said it was a crappy question is because it seemed cynical. The fact is that I do spend my own money to put the production together. I don't have a lot of money, but I want to make this work. The fact is that if it works, it will probably only be because I am making the video for practically no cost. I'm giving my time and the reason that most of these ventures fail is because to do any kind of decent production, it always costs more than the potential shows. So, that's why it becomes a money pit for these guys and they walk. As far as I know, the production on the Hustlers cost Millions. No one can do that for pool people unless you are willing to work for nothing for quite awhile.

How would money from the masses support pool? Other then putting money in your pocket and a handpicked group of players that most of us have only heard of a few? Wouldn't it be better to support a event that more player can play in or one with all pros?

He's gonna tell you this is just a start. Then there can be teams and players from Florida, California, Texas--- then Europe, Asia. It will explode, $10 at a time.

Oh and I went to most of the players on the list Facebook page - most had no posts about this venture that will change pool forever. Some only had it cause Sean Morgan tagged them in a post. So - here is more negativity - we have the pool player once again wanting a hand out for not doing any work themselves whatsoever, even if that means a few clicks with their mouse and pecks on their keyboard.

Events that take money from most of the players and give it to a few don't seem to work. Because most of the players lose money.

My idea is to get teams from all over the place to play each other and give the players a large cut of the video sales.

They put up their own money for the match. I was hoping to get a lot more by a pre-selling of the videos, but that looks gloomy according to you guys. But even so, after a few video sales, no one will lose money and that may be a turning point.

Hopefully there will then be city teams to maybe get some hometown type support.

This doesn't depend on your help, but it would sure be good if we got some.

Maybe he should make a video of Earl asking for money and where it will go!

I have to actually agree with you. Wow!!!! That's weird for me. You're right about players, but that is one aspect of the reality show. If they don't promote themselves enough to generate revenue, we will find someone who will. The idea is to get a working system that will generate money for a large group of players. Even if they aren't the top players, if it works, it works.

Someone always have to lose money somehow for others to make money.

Why would anyone buy videos of non pros playing pool when YouTube is filled with the best in the world playing each other?

You asked for money where 80 percent went to these players and I guess you get the other 20. Then you want people to buy videos on top of that?
Good luck Jim I hope it works out for you.

Personally I like to watch all things related to pool. I wish more pool related content was easily accessible. YouTube is great for plain matches. Movies come but are too many years apart. If all it took was a $10 donation from me for a season 2 of The Hustlers to happen I would of gladly given it. I just want to see more pool.

There are a lot of ways to show pool. I think Jim likes to show pool with non-traditional ideas. I hope you follow through with your idea no matter what we say on this site. Because I will watch and support fellow pool players as much as I can.

No. I'm asking for money up front by you buying a video stream. It will just be used in a different way. The money up front will be put into the pot. The money after the game will be going to individual players.

And that's a very good point. You can see everyone on the internet for free. It's killing pool and probably is the worst thing that's happened to the players. People use their playing in videos to get advertising money and don't give anything to the players.

That's why I need to make the show a more interesting show than just a table and a few guys talking to each other about what they have to take home for dinner later.

Could you imagine if all movies were free and the only people who made money on them were the people who showed them. Actors would be broke like pool players, and not multimillionaires. And the productions would be as good as the pool videos that are on the internet now.

Jim

Missed this one

Sorry wachez, I missed this crappy remark you made. I dare you to go into that tight assed pocket of yours and buy a video stream and let me show what I can do. :)

Does a donation get me videos or do I have to buy them?

It's funny. Earl is one of the older players and he's probably the most active on social media!
His Twitter was the first I heard of the show too.
I will check your link later at home.
Good luck!

reality show

Well if this show ever gets off the ground and all the same players are still in it
I wonder which player will loose his cool first.
So who gets to stand up and say I am a idiot first ..........

Any action on this one ?

Never for one moment thought Earl did his own social media.

If 64 players put in $100 to play and only 16 get paid, that's 48 players who lost money. Good deal isn't it.

Jim
Well Jim, that's how tournaments work. Wouldn't be much of a competition if everyone got paid. It's a contest. I know you are too old to be from the "Every Kid Gets a Trophy" era.

Also, to answer your sarcastic question, that is a good deal. That's 25 percent of the field. You only have to win 2 matches to cash.

You play well, you get paid. You play like shit, get better so you can get paid next time.
