Straight pool DCC

The draw

Lee van Corteza vs Mike Davis

Mika Immonen vs Dennis Orcullo

John Schimdt vs Thorsten Homann

Johnny Archer vs Konstantin Stepanov

this was from this morning, most of these have been played already.

Thank you n "Go Alex!" in the 1P

Alex may be in the lead for Master of the Table.
He might be shooting at the Magician's DCC record....
...just like Tiger and Jack Nicklaus.

No shot at the 14.1 title...couldn't get the time on the table.

I did

I did the streams for the whole thing up until i left this morning. It was a great time and a honor to be able to showcase the games of the worlds greatest players.

It was a members only stream to promote my billiard platform. 300 people could already watch the match for nothing, it was not a pay per view. The videos will also be available free for members in short time once the new billiardnet.tv platform is done.

Thanks for watching the show.

I heard the stream was cut short, what's up with that ?

Will refunds be given to those that subscribed just for the 14.1 stream ?

It probably was contractual if he stopped showing it. Last year he had the 14.1 until the semi finals and finals as AccuStats had the rights to stream it.

Mike could have stayed and streamed the rest of the 14.1, (no rights to the finals are held by accu-stats, btw.) but he had other obligations in Wisconsin for the Jacoby Open.

I would hope the use of the "refund" card is not to stir the drama pot. At least with paying to be a member, instead of paying per show, you have continual access for thousands of billiard matches commercial free.

I would say by far, by affordability, and the due diligence of TvMike to impose the least amount of hardship to the viewers, is his On-Demand platform.

Unfortunately, with riding the free internet giants to provide streams and on-demand content, leaves billiard viewers holding more and more of the responsibility to pay for live events. (because we're not reaping the rewards of on-demand content. YouTube and others make all that money)

This will continually get worse as all cousins, sisters and brothers will be jumping on the live stream band wagon, and doing PPV's.

It is now time, that I have been screaming about for the last 5 years, to build billiards its own infrastructure to produce live events and on-demand content, thus driving the cost to the viewers to about nil. Until Then?

Have a splendid evening!

Goldy.

Last year Accu Stats had the rights as I signed up last year to watch the 14.1 and did so until he could not stream it anymore due to them.

So, Dennis Orcullo is the straight pool champion.
Congratulations

I missed it again....lotta things going on here

I was Lucky

I was Lucky enough to be friends with Dennis Walsh and I was able to watch all the high run attempts on Wednesday. I was also able to watch the first 2 matches. I'll post a few pics. Al of the players expressed the same feeling about the 14-1 challenge. They all basically said it was the best run event at the Derby. I was also able to go to dinner with Dennis, Bill M. Mikka andAlex Lely.
Needless to say, it was a 14-1 lovers dream.

....

I'm just wondering what this means Steve?

Once twice the fool? Are you talking about watching my show? I mean really what the hell?

... And now 225 by Lee Van Corteza.
....
Related to which, when he had to shoot the opening break shot in his first match of the finals (against Mike Davis, I think), they had to explain the break requirements to him. Evidently he had never actually played a match.

I was there for that and found it fascinating too.

The other thing about him was that he did a break shot with the cue behind his back. I'd never seen that before.

Accu-Stats

Last year Accu Stats had the rights as I signed up last year to watch the 14.1 and did so until he could not stream it anymore due to them.

Accu-stats did not have the "rights". I went over to Pat and asked him if he would like to put it on the big table and he was able to fit it in last year. I had offered him the semis last year, but we could not schedule it.

We offered Pat the semis and the finals this year but they could not fit them in. He wanted the finals, but we would have had to wait until Saturday until Dennis was eliminated from nine ball and then until the tv table was available. We did not want to wait since Dennis was free for us Friday at 9:00 p.m.

Basically, we are at the mercy of the nine ball events and some of the other programming. We have to wait for our players to be free and then see whether or not the accu-stats table is free at the same time.

I offered Pat the video to see if he could do anything with it, but he did not want it. We will be uploading it on youtube.

TvMike did a great job filming the quallifiers. He also filmed the first four matches of the competition.

Mike is at a scheduling disadvantage as he never knows when or if Accu-Stats is going to swoop in and take the semis and the finals. We have been told to work with Accu-Stats if it fits in with them. Therefore, Mike did not even know if there would be any content for him on Friday, so it made perfect sense for him to pack up, and get on the road to the next venue.

We video'd the rest of the matches so they will be up on youtube.

Thanks again to Mike for providing great coverage of our event.
