Well, back when this was still America... many big rooms in large cities, esp in the Far Northern Reaches,
had 12 ft American Snooker tables. You think potting on an English or Canadian 12 footer is difficult.
The American tables with their 10% bigger balls and smaller pockets - and more importantly,
as mentioned, severely rounded pocket openings were MUCH more demanding.

I played a table similar to what you describe at nice golf club (as guest I can't afford it sadly). The balls were standard but the pockets were incredibly tight, it was a lot of fun. Really emphasized good shot selection, smart safety play and tight position play. Definitely trickier than anything I've played on.
