This pool cue is indeed a very special one that came about solely due to Dean Campbell and the esteemed relationship he's cultivated with top name cue-makers that consider him to be so much more than just a customer. Dean's become close friends with the cue-makers he's met and done business with and for what it's worth, Dean's presence has elevated my interest in pool cue collecting. And that same note, this unique cue is definitely a stunning pool cue to add to anyone's collection....JMO.

Congratulations Matt! This cue is unique and simply magnificent. It really pleases me to see someone who truly appreciates cues own such a great one! A big Bravo to Dean as well.

Sincerely,
Phil

PS: get that rotator well so you can play it!

That Laurie Franklin is some cue maker

I love her, when I got the cue in the mail I almost passed out These pictures are nice, but the cue is 10 times as nice in person,I really think it is the most beautiful cue I ever saw

Thank all of you guys who have been so complimentary, at times like this I am reminded of the good things I like about AZ Billiards

Would you believe this is going to be my cue forever?

Thanks you guys

Always curious.

So where is the praise for Jerry Rauenzahn, he made the cue? Since getting into this cue collecting habit and having a few collaboration cues. I was always trying to figure out who gets the limelight in these collaboration cues. The person that built the cue or the person that puts the pin in it?

Absolutely a beautiful cue done by 2 masters.

thanks for pointing out Jerry Rauenzahn's contribution,
but since Jerry only provided one part

(granted a beautiful well made classic part that no one else in the world could do)

And since South West took the raw blank turning it to South West exact specs , fitting the joint and making those perfectly tapered South West Cue shafts
exactly like they always do,I was happy to get a unique 100% South West cue that could not have been possible without Jerry Rauenzahn

I also bought a 360 Tribute from Jerry, aren't they beautiful?

On a personal note, The thing I like most about Eric is his loyalty to his friends in the cue business.
Few realize that he almost single handedly kept Mike Cochran and Tim Scruggs in business
and when Mike died there was the story that one of Mike's friends and customers put a huge check
in the defenseless widows hands and I always felt like I knew who that man was..

On the other hand when I sold Eric one of the last 3 almost finished Mike Cochran/Tim Scruggs cues
and it went to his beautiful collection,he wouldn't sell it back to me when I begged

It is funny how when you let something special slip through your hands, you never know if you will
want it back and its too late

I believe we have the basis for a good country and western song

"Eric Has My Baby and He Won't Give Her Back To Me'

Thanks for your input Eric,as usual it was insightful, helpful and necessary

I am not knocking this cue in any way, shape, or form. There many great things to say about it, as many have already stated. But it is anything but a 100% Southwest cue...

Hay Dean

That Cochran Southwest is $15K if you are wanting your Mojo back!!!

Well said...I could t agree more, it's weird to me that SW even does this which I said back when they collaborated with Hulsey. Neat cue I guess but far from a SW.

Well, if Southwest couldn't do a butterfly splice, and relied on Jerry Rauenzahn to do it, it seems that it's an upgraded Southwest.

All the best,
WW

I used to own some Balabushkas with titleist Blanks
I owned Balabushkas with szamboti blanks
I owned some Balabushkas with Spain blanks

and I was happy to buy them knowing fully what they were

I knew what these are and I like them even more for the rarity

Once I talked to Barry and Jerry about doing something together like this
for one reason or another we didn't do it,now I wish I had

I like these projects, some people had a big thread of other cue makers who got together and had some fun

It is not the norm, but the exception, and that is what iI like about these

why would anyone feel a need to criticize a person for making, buying or selling anything they like?

If collectors find these as attractive as I do and the price soars, what would you think?

I see where Tascarella like to use original Balabushka parts on his cues ,nothing sneaky just fun,and I don't mind paying more to be part of that fun

You would be surprised how many cue makers bought Verl Horn points, some really famous cue makers,
Jerry Franklin,Craig Petersen, and several others, some of these are the most sought after of their works

Verl introduced me to tony at Gina while selling him parts

So as you can see, there is a long line of co operation among cue makers

And yet any one of these would be called 100% original,a real brand x

not that each part was made from scratch but the cue was finished and made ready and complete by Brand X

I am not being defensive, but I am explaining what we have here and why I called this cue 100% South West ,while at the same time acknowledging the fantastic contribution of my friend Jerry Rauenzahn

The cue is not on the market,I hope to keep it,but that doesn't mean I won't sell it
Before I opened the box I thought I would sell it for $16000 to Greg, but

Dennis Glenn the noted collector had seen it in Las Vegas at the south West Cue shop and he told me it was worth twice that , now

I think my reputation and practice has been to offer fair prices, many of you have thanked me
but I have the idea that this cue is so pretty that if I laid it aside for my daughter or grand kids,it might make their future more secure

What do you guys think? If it were your cue, would you sell it now,or hold for the future?
