Go Fund Man Who helped Johnny Artcher

Rodney is a regular at the pool hall here and owns a cab company. We only had 5 inches in Lafayette but the roads somehow were very bad after it finished accumulating last night. They couldn't spread salt because of rain and there's a lot of construction once you get North of Lafayette they're widening I65 to 3 lanes.

Johnny A. did the right thing. Hope he gets the $400 from Johnny A and the money from the fund. The guy has more than earned it in my book. Johnnyt

Keep mine for being a good guy!!#karma

I agree with Johnnyt. Hope Ronnie gets the funds for his kindness.

What a guy!

I just tried to donate a little but the fund has been closed. I would like to say this guy man deserves what ever he gets from the fund and what ever Johnny gives him. I think getting out of bed, looking for 7 hours, for someone you don't know and getting them on back on the road says alot. Good wishes to Rodney Hester in the future.

Northern Indiana snow storms can be pretty crazy.I got caught in one in my 4x4 and thought I was not going to be able to get home.Glad everything worked out.

Archer got stuck in a snow storm in the middle of nowhere in Indiana, and apparently stayed the night in his car. He is OK, but this guy who found him says his truck is "screwed up." That's not enough explanation for me. What happened to his truck? Is this the deductible, or is he not using insurance?

He wasn't asking for anything at all. When he wound up stuck himself and had a tow bill I offered to send some money via pay pal to help out. I also posted it on the thread on Archers page to see if anyone else was willing to help. He sent me a privet message saying "Johnny is safe and on his way to the airport. Flight was postponed so he will make the flight. No money needed. Just need to vent. LOL"

Not everyone is out to get something for nothing.

If you want a screen shot of the message then text me ill send it to you.

Surprised that Johnny didn't offer to pay for the repairs as a way of showing his appreciation.

Exactly. I don't think he is hurting for any money.

I never understood why there is always a call or request to help out some pro player that needs money for something. Most times they would have had the money if they didn't gamble it away, or as Billy says put it in flight.

Someone started it for him to get the money. Not sure who. But before it was ever started I had recieved that message from him. I was going to just send him money via pay pal directly to him. I've been in his shoes before. Helping someone out and something happen that I have to pay to fix. Shit sucks when you work a normal job

The people who pitched in did it because they respected what Rodney did, not necessarily because they thought he was in need. I would like to know when Rodney receives the cash.

It clearly states on the gofundme page that it was started by Josh Arieh. He is a professional poker player and a friend of Johnny's. He posted on Facebook that someone should start the page after it was determined that he found Johnny and incurred some expenses. I don't know any of the parties involved, but by reading all the posts on Facebook, it was clear that Rodney did not ask for anything. It appears to be someone trying to pay it forward to someone that already paid it forward by risking his life in the middle of the night looking for someone he didn't know.

Johnny was the closest thing I ever had to an athlete hero. I would go anywhere I could to watch him play - mostly on the Floyd Baxter tour. His gait, presence at the table, mental toughness, ball pocketing ability, etc were awesome to watch in the 90's.

It initially troubled me that Johnny wasn't gonna give the guy the money but I am glad to hear that is not the case. Hope Johnny sends him the $400 as a thank you.

Cool thing you guys did here helping the guy out. What a crazy story.

I see that's what he's doing. I'm glad. I also never said JA wasn't doing this. Just that it would be the right thing to do.

Hey E, do you belong to a sport fishing and boating forum and use the same screen name?
