Maybe I'm getting color blind. I see people agreeing on purple heart, but I don't see any purple heart when I click the link.

Agreed but wouldn't say plain ol'. That wood has some versatility.

Okay, it's more curly than plain.

That non-purple, reddish brown color is what purpleheart turns into when exposed to ultraviolet light. The really purple purpleheart you see in some cues been sealed and finished before it gets exposed and loses it purpleness.

(I wonder if the word purple has ever been used this many times in a single post.)

The wood in the middle of the point looks like snakewood to me, in that pic anyway.

I guess I'd need to see this cue in person. If the OP loved the points on this cue as shown in the photos, then he's going to be surprised unless he tells his cuemaker to make sure his beautiful figured purpleheart is brown. That would suck.

If I were the OP, I'd ask for something else.

I will jave a new one to show you soon.

The cue in the pic liiks stained to me...and not purple nurple heart.

I guess i'm seeing a different pic than everybody else, because I don't see any brown at all. Looks like typical curly purpleheart. Doesn't look to be faded or anything, just the red/purple that it naturally is.

I was looking at this cue and love it. I'm looking to have one made that looks similar. What kind of wood is that in the points? What other woods look similar? I was thinking about using snakewood.

difficult to find cue makers willing to work with it as it's brittle and that makes it so that you have to redo things often if it breaks.

It could also be leopard wood.

I don't see Purpleheart either. That looks very brown to me, almost a cocobolo but a tad lighter and with more figure. I've got a lot of PH in my Jacoby player, and it looks nothing like that. Here's mine with alternating PH and Coco points and butt sleeve.

I used to turn wood, and that is backwards from what I've seen. Purpleheart is brown when freshly cut and only turns purple when exposed to air...
