Let's change the wording from "certified" to "fully qualified".
Are your comments/replies those of a teacher or student or neither..... simply your opinion.
You did state your case by why keep repeating it. Just curious.
What is your playing level? Pro...Shortstop. Are you well known? Are you are student of the game or just like to debate. How many Tournaments have you won? Do you gamble for decent wagers?
Are your opinions those of a certain instructor or those of a fully qualified instructor or a short stop level player or simply one that had no stroke & no game like a beginner that was taught some basic 'fundamentals' by one that then became your pool god?
You have had a pleasant experience & association of which you are well satisfied. I am very glad & happy for you.
That is not the case for everyone else.
By your 'suggestion' here, only a Pro level player is qualified to teach or comment on teaching. By your thinking, an individual is not qualified to even judge if their own experience was a satisfying one or not.
Only you & those like you are allowed to voice your opinions of your satisfied experiences. What makes you qualified to do that? I know of at least 3 well known player/instructors that will tell you that what you were taught is bunkum & hogwash.
You are employing the same illogic that is used in the aiming forums by proponents of another instructor & what he is teaching. Matters of the mind are not related to whether or not an individual is a pro player or not.
I had thought that after you qualified your testimonial, that you understood the need for the instructor to fit the student & what the student is looking to receive from a lesson.
I guess not.
Your experience was a good one for you & I am rather sure it is for rather many others. But... it is not the same like that for everyone.
The SPF curriculum is not for everyone & everyone is not looking to be taught it. That is were those unsatisfied & unhappy individuals have come from... a bad fit between student & instructor. That probably comes from miscommunication or lack of communication in the booking process.
Hence the need for some awareness of what is available from others & some due diligence by those looking for a lesson or lessons & perhaps some more communication from instructors as to what they will be teaching in a lesson.
That way a potential student can make a better decision & those unsatisfied & unhappy experiences can be cut back.
Would that not be a GOOD THING?
You say, take a lesson from Mr. Y, he's great. Well some have & would completely disagree with you. It was a bad fit & it was NOT for what the student was looking. Hence, probably bad communication of some kind by one or the other or both parties.
I could be a paraplegic since what I am talking about has nothing to do with how well "I" play. Your logic in that regard is completely faulty... But I have just relatively recently been asked if I was a short stop when hitting balls at a rather well known hall when there was no one there that knew me. I am 62 with bad eyes & a bad back.
You want to know my playing 'credentials'. How about the playing credentials of every instructor here that is basically soliciting. Let's have them be posted for potential students to compare & make a determination if they would rather take a lesson from Nick Varner or Lee Brett or CJ Wiley or Fran Crimi vs instructor XYZ or SPF or another 'certified' instructor that is not teaching the SPF curriculum.
Everyone is NOT at a level like you that compares playing pool to having sex for fun & not needing to be that good at it. You found the instructor that suits you.
Others need to do the same thing.
Best Wishes for You & Yours,
Rick
