Can Elevation Change Affect a Cue?

I live near Denver where the elevation is over 6,000 feet, and I recently shipped a cue from here to Ohio. Apparently when the cue got there the butt was warped, and I'm positive the cue was perfectly straight when I shipped it, so my question is could the change in elevation have caused the warp in the butt and if so, will it go away after a few days?

Does humidity decrease with altitude? If so, could the increase in relative humidity between 6,000 feet and sea level account for what happened to the butt of the cue?

Not sure. Temperature, moisture etc are known to sometimes be an issue, but altitude..... not sure. Plenty or people flew with cues before TSA and there werent any issues that I ever heard about.

I would think it would take longer to boil a cue there though....... :thumbup:
 
Definitely mor humid in blowhi-o than in stonever, but what is the time frame at hand?

Wood's kinda solid and i wouldnt think a few days- given it is a somewhat slow change- woul be enough time to make a noticable change.
 
I wouldnt think there would be any effect either. If so, all cues being sent to denver would also be warped/defective. I doubt thats the case.

Might ask the buyer to hang on the cue for 2 weeks and see if the cue will return straighten itself out.


I know this sounds funny, I had the same issue except with a shaft .
The buyer sent back the cue ....saying that one of the shafts was warped .

When I got the cue back it was straight...............
I sold this cue to a close friend about 4 years ago , yesterday I was shooting with the same friend and the cue is straight to this day....

The cue went from 4500 ft to sea level .
