Are They Really Playing For That Amount

What could PPV streamers, promoters, and venues do to show an action match is really for the stated amount?

So for everyone that doesn't know everyone in the industry...it's a crap shoot? I think there must be a better answer. Johnnyt

Does it really matter in the long run?
These guys are so lean they are going to play hard for almost anything.

What does it matter? Do you want to see bank statements?

I've said for years, pool would be a lot more interesting if, it at least seemed as though, players are playing for ridiculous amounts of cash. Since no one is going to just toss a bunch of cash to some degenerate pool players, you have to find some way to capture the attention of the general public. Once pool starts gaining attention, the money will come. But, you have to start somewhere... Just like Texas Hold'em tournaments found popularity.

Pardon the hint of sarcasm...

A sanctioning body would be helpful in this type of situation. Does anyone know a reputable one that would handle action matches?

How could honesty not matter?

If you are watching a match, what is the reason? Are you watching because you want to support an individual or establishment? Or, are you watching for entertainment value?

Most people who watch matches just want to see some quality pool playing. The money is not the big attraction, but if it appears that there is a lot of it on the line, it adds to the excitement.

I'm sorry to those who feel duped, when they realize that the prize money isn't real.. It's likely the same pain that they felt, when they realized that pro wrestling is fake. In both cases though, it's for entertainment value.

If you don't know who's 'pitching' and who's 'catching', don't stick your nose in it!
Famous line from the 60's about betting on pool action.Good advice.

LOL. I haven't heard that line in at least 30 years. Remains true today. Johnnyt
