Diamond harder then GC %

I know a Diamond table verses a GC is a little harder.
I was practicing straight pool on a Diamond and ran 4 racks and had a long break shot for the 5th rack and rattled it in the corner pocket. I thought that it might have gone on a GC with the shorter shelf.
Many times I've shot a ball up the rail on a Diamond that rattled but would have gone on a GC.
Given the same pocket size I'm thinking a Diamond is at least 10% harder then a GC.
thoughts?

I don't find them harder, I don't like the rails as much as a GC though. Super ball rails

It all depends on the table
My GC3 with rail work done by Jerimy Chambers plays tougher than the diamonds. That being said, I am in the camp that loves the way a diamond plays. When I move, I will be selling my table and buying a diamond. My only question is how tight I make the pockets. MY gold crown is 4 3/8th.

A lot harder to cheat the pockets on a Diamond. It will be my next table, I love the way they play.

My feelings also.
i play at a room on Diamonds.
sometimes during a snow storm i play at a room that's closer on GC tables and am surprised at how many balls that skim the rails go in.

Four racks??? I was thinking about paying you a visit soon but maybe I should wait till you cool down a bit.

When is your next slump?

the day after I play you.:grin-loving:

I was afraid of that. I will let you know.
I play on two different tables that RKC has set up....mine(Diamond Pro) and a Gold Crown 4. The Diamond plays tougher but its not a huge difference IMHO. It will make a difference though on several shots during a match.

If I had to put a number on it. Normally about 30% tougher. Pasted to a rail probably a little harder like 45%. Now factor in that Diamonds don't sag in the middle like a GC that would bring the diamond's number down a bit.

Same size pockets for the ones you play on? Just curious since most gold crowns have large pockets from the factory

My Diamond has Pro cuts and the Gold Crown is set up like it was new, never altered.

Gee, I always thought the center of the pocket is the same on every table

the shelf on a Diamond is deeper. More balls will rattle and hang up then on a GC.
I was always fair at playing position off a ball in the jaws. Now after playing on Diamonds for several years I have had more times to do this and have gotten much better.

Diamonds dont seem to bank naturally. I have a GCIII, and if I played on a Diamond at home and then played on GC, I would probably say the same thing about the GC.

They play different.

I have to laugh at folks who always talk about making a table "tighter" but reducing the pocket size. IMO, it will do nothing but make you a worse player. If you play on table with those really "tight" pockets, and you have a clue, you will change your shot selection, and not become better at pocketing balls. I have seen it many times.....

Best of rolls to all,
