Hey everyone out there, im looking for a new case to buy. I have owned many cases before like old instroke, jack justis, whitten, and caring a jb case now. I know there is some really good case makers out there. trying to figure out what case maker to go with. I really like the new designs like the yang cases. maybe everyone out there can give me some directions on where to go. plus some info how to contact these makers too would be real helpfull

I would just buy a bag of rubber bands from the dollar store and save a bunch of money...lol

Seriously, I have always been a big fan of Fields cases. You would have to find one second hand these days because Chuck retired last I remember reading.

Good luck with the search Joey and welcome back from vacation.

i would want a fields too and yes he is retired. I really like the look of tang and volturi cases. it was a great trip for sure and glad to be back. ill see you down there at bank shot maybe tonight

Do a quick search on some of these before you go out and buy one. You might find some things to change your mind and stick with what you have.

I would advise staying away from Volturi, I've seen a couple in person and they are not a well made case in my oppinion. Saw snaps fallen off of one and just overall not worth the price.

It's too bad Chuck isnt making cases. You could always post up a wanted post but it took me a year to find mine. It's outstanding though! I'd buy another in a heartbeat (and will if I ever find another one available!).

I've seen a few Murnaks posted recently and those seen nice. King has an amazing pair available right now if you want something super nice. His #101 is stunning!

JB occasionally has some leather ones available too so if you can find one you like those are always a good option. I still think his rugged 2x5 is the best setup for a playing case if you can't find a leather option you like.

Case

Machine, you and I have discussed this before. I still recommend a Dennis Swift out of Kentucky. Tough, solid, well built and easy as heck to work with on a design. And they won't cost you an arm and a leg to get into one.

The only reason I have been carrying my JB rugged is because I needed an extra spot for another cue or shaft but I need to get off my butt and switch them back out. I am super happy with my Swift and recommend one every time I talk to someone about cases. My second choice is a JB and I believe the main reason is because the interior.

I've owned a bizillion cases over the last 60+ years. I'm seriously
thinking of buying a 2x4 or 3x6 "It's George" for everyday use.
Now that they are available Brand New again, it's a great choice.

Thought he is finished making cases.

King is still selling as of 5 days ago...for sale forum.

How about HARD CASES - is anyone building high quality box cases? Not out of exotic woods, but like this 80's/90's McDermott no case...

As far as I know, O'Neil is still in business. The cue cases are a small part of his business from my understanding, but if you give him a call he might have some in stock and/or will build a case also.

I'd really like a Whitten case, but I don't want to plunk down $800.00 for the particular case I want. IMHO the Whittens are the ultimate in protection as well as style.
JB Cases are really impressive, especially given their ability to customize the case you want. If you haven't been to their website you owe it to yourself to check it out. Their prices are extremely competitive as well.

For the money, the case I like best (other than Whitten) is the Vincitore 4x6 Smooth Black Leatherette case. I like the style, the zip top and most of all how the butt(s) & shaft(s) are secured. I like that they use tubes and not some loosely sewn together pockets AND that the tubes are lined with material from top to bottom (see below). I'm probably going to call joerackem (aka Nielson Billiards @ (217) 585-1660 today and order it. I use them almost exclusively. Their prices are awesome and their customer service is even better.

Would that be Mark up in Racine, WI at O'Neil leather specialties by chance? Do I have the right one? Thank you, Chuck!
