What do pool players write in their notebooks?

Every once in a while, I see a professional match sometimes where a player will occasionally jot notes in a notebook. What are they writing? Is it a way of recording your mistakes or something?

I've used a product in the past called the shot pad to note missed shots in competition to work on during practice. I'm guessing that they are doing the same. I've seen SVB practicing a shot over and over again. I'm assuming it's a shot that has given him some trouble in the recent past.

Most likely missed shots to work on later, but it could be a weakness they see in their opponent or something about the characteristics of the table they noticed.

Matt,
Who was the pro player that you saw making the notes? If you prefer, you can PM me.

Thanks,
JoeyA

It could be anything pool related.
Sometimes you have an epiphany when you see a reaction....whether you made or missed the shot.
A good player is always thinking and tends to have a great memory.

A great player also has an artistic side along with a desire to understand physics.....
....not unlike Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo had notebooks all over the place

I think they're working on their resumes and job applications.

Lol. That's a good one.
But never heard of burger king or macdonald's asking for resume tho lol
Could be recording the odds for gambling or how much they up or down.

On a serious note, could be flaws they want to remind themselves while practicing or mistake they're constantly making or even smth they pick up from opponent.

But which pro did u see doing that ?
I"ll be amuse to see Efren or Busty wiping out a notepad during games.

"9:45 PM, Ralph again took 4 minutes to shoot a shot. reminder to key his car" - Earl.

"4:21 PM, spectator in second row, 5th seat looked at me funny when I missed, reminder to key his car" - Earl.

" 8 PM, missed a 6 rail spin shot, must be bad table setup due to no heat and cue is too short, fire cue maker, complain during interview " - Earl.

"Wow, I got lucky again, remember to thank my sponsor" - Efren

"SO MUCH LINT!!!!" - Johnny

At least that's what I'd imagine.

they probably heard something witty to put on their cardboard sign to hold up on their favorite street corner.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I've heard Neils Feijen talking in an interview about a notebook that he writes down shots he missed so he can practice later. It's not necessary that he writes them during the actual match, he can wait until the match is over.

Dear mom,

I lost my car. Please send dad to pick me up.

Oh, can you please leave some of the leftovers out too. I'm kind of hungry.

Love you,

Your favorite

P.S...I'll clean my room up in the basement when I get home and have slept for a couple days.
