Seen the thread on "different states you played pool in" so it got me wondering, how many different country's have you played in?

Bahamas
Bahrain
Canada
China
Egypt
France
Greece
Hong Kong
Israel
Italy
Jamaica
Japan
Korea
Lithuania
Mexico
Singapore
Slovenia
Spain
Turkey
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom
United States

I always looked for a place to play pool when we pulled into ports. Some people collect things, but Im not a collector so I decided I just wanted to be able to say I played pool in every country I visited. I think I had the most enjoyment out of anyone since you have to get away from the tourist traps and really search out places to play which turns into an adventure to say the least.

Canada
Dominican Republic
England
France
Ireland
Scotland
Spain
Turkey
United States

China (Shanghai, Macau)
Hong Kong
Japan (Osaka, Tokyo)
Canada (Vancouver, Calgary)
USA (Seattle, Baltimore)

That's it.... for now:grin:

xJ <---- fun thread

I've played in China, France, Italy, UK, Australia and Indonesia. In Australia I went to a place where they only had colored balls to play 8 ball. In Indonesia and Italy, they were like bar tables but with snooker pockets in a small village bar. In China I played pool (with Colin Colesco) at a regular pool room with Chinese copies of Brunswick's, and I played on a huge snooker table in a pub style game room.

In Indonesia, I played (and beat) their local champ in Bali Beach on a bar table with snooker pockets in front of what became a big crowd. The game was a form of rotation. The next day I was famous as I was walking along the beach with people waving and shouting at me.

I've traveled a lot but rarely look for pool to play. I'm a little shy when in foreign cities to walk into a pool room or bar, not knowing the language or customs. There are many strange table set-ups and variations of games based on pool or snooker.

Tate,

I would have to say for me that is half the fun of going to a pool hall in a different country, rarely can I understand the language, but we end up working it out by using pool as the common language.
South Korea is one of my all time favorite stories I tell people. I walk into a Billiards parlor that had 20 or so Billiard tables. The place was nice and as soon as I walked in it was like that scene from Animal House when they took the girls into the bar where Otis Day and the Nights were playing. All the Korean players just stopped and looked at me "its was like,,,what is this American doing here" and then after an awkward few seconds they all just went back to playing. The owner saw me and came over and started speaking korean to me and he understood I had no clue what he was saying so he pointed to the tables. I gave him the "I have no clue how to play gesture" and I really never even played the game before so he gestured to me that he would show me how to play.

Well after the first game of him hitting me with his stick because I kept making the mistake of trying to shoot his ball I sorta got the hang of it a little bit and I ended up beating him the second game. Well next thing you know there is a crowd of people watching, a lot of clapping and a lot of laughing from the crowd, especially when I would still go to shoot the wrong ball and he would hit me with his stick. The owner beat me the third game, but it was a close one and to this day I don't think he was dogging it, but even if he was, it was a blast.

Good luck in your travels and I do believe my traveling days are done, retirement from the military. May I suggest if your ever back in Hong Kong, stay in the Kings Hotel because of the pool hall on the 2nd floor.

Thread name is misleading
It should read

Thread full of people I hate

I am in the travel business and I like to suggest to people to budget for one interesting vacation a year, or every other year, no matter how small, by hook or by crook. You only live once!

I was riding my motorcycle with a friend on a remote road here near Lompoc, CA. These three bicyclists, young men, came up and talked a bit while they rested. Their bikes were loaded with camping gear. Two were riding from Washington State to San Diego, and one was from Europe and had ridden from Alaska to California. I thought that was amazing. Some people just gotta travel!

Pretty much just the USA, Canada and Mexico for me..I have always found enough action close to home, to keep me happy..The several other foreign countries I've visited, were always extended (& expensive) vacations with the wife..She always made it clear, there would be NO pool hustling!..Couldn't blame her, she had always endured plenty of nights alone on a regular basis at home.
