$2000 Bank Bend Challenge

Lol exactly at first sight I thought I was tripping because of course it was amazing but I didn't even see it touch the rail....slowed it dow an at least on my shitty equipment it only seems to hit the ball on the rail but more or less disappears in a very small frame.

The shot everyone's shooting to show curve isn't even the shot where isnt going to show up the most anyways.

Outside to in bend with speed...lmao.....try again everyone.

Try writing j's instead of cursive N's sometime doctors and players and gaff editors alike.

I did a stop frame and the only part that looked fishy to me was when the OB first comes off the rail the path seems to ghost through the other frozen rail ball. ....
I think the real tell is the cue ball after it hits the object ball. It comes off with a lot of spin and then suddenly goes to no spin for the last part of it path. It also changes direction which looks like a roll-off. This implies that the two scenes spliced together are the upper left quarter (roughly) and the rest of the frame. I didn't understand why that would be the split until I tried the splice myself. I think you will see the problem shortly with simply splitting the scene down the middle.

Have you discounted CGI?

The YouTube tutorial explaining Zinedine Zidane's pool table trickshot for the spectacles company was very illuminating, well worth a watch if you have the time. In reality, the only ball on the table was the cueball.

I think Cleary's objective was to waste Dave's and Bob's time trying to analyze the video for where and how the cheating took place because he thinks they wasted all of our time.

For those interested, here's Bob's hasty attempt at a video clearly showing how someone (e.g., cleary) could easily attempt to beat the challenge:

How to Cheat the $2000 Bank Bend Challenge

See the video description for more info.

Enjoy,

FYI, here's the video description on YouTube:

Bob Jewett shows how to attempt to "beat" the $2000 Bank Bend Challenge with easy and straightforward split-screen video editing. The video portion on the left shows the CB hitting the OB into the cushion. The right side shows the OB being struck with a masse stroke from the on-the-cushion position. The tall paper-towel tube and camera view helps obscure the transition between the two separate videos joined side-by-side. If Bob were more careful with ball targeting and positioning on the cushion, and with trimming and synchronization of the two separate videos, the edited video would be much more convincing. Also, more split-screen editing could be done to replace the portions of the video image that give away the cheat, but we wanted people to see these imperfections so they can clearly visualize how the attempted cheat was pulled off.

PS: The simple video editing was done with Pinnacle Studio

I would say it was all good entertainment. Also I learned some techniques in Pinnacle that I didn't know were there. Pinnacle is another one of those programs that you need to learn through YouTube videos. Here is one about split screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef09chzj-Zg

I don't know why you and Bob are even wasting any time on someone that's tried to steal $2000 and has been trying to ruin your reputation.

It's not really needed for this shot. I think a fairly simple program like Pinnacle Studio (of which you will see an example shortly) is sufficient.

It would be trivial in Adobe Premiere, and I don't even know the program that well. Just enough to do simple editing.

I am actually grateful for cleary forcing me to learn some things I did not know before about video editing and how to better detect cheats.

Thanks cleary,
Dave

This has been very entertaining. Thanks Cleary. You have made yourself look so poorly for the benefit of the members of azb.

I admit that, at first, I was disappointed by cleary's dishonesty, attempted cheat, and attempted slander; but now I am glad, because Bob and I have both learned some valuable lessons about video editing and how to detect cheats. It has also been interesting (and scary) to see how many people cleary was able to deceive.

Regards,
Dave

Good evening, Bob.

I've just seen your YouTube video and must agree, sir. Very convincing indeed, good work.

John's original bank was normal and anyone who's been playing a while has see balls roll off and maybe not understand why...."hit a piece of chalk" or something like that.

If Brumback himself had posted this one I wouldn't have believed it. Yeah, it's scary how many people were fooled.
