One Pocket is so slow....

One pocket is so slow....

The live stream froze, but nobody watching knew.
1p jokes are so slow, it took me 6 years to laugh.
Best one so far. :)
Ok, I'll try one:

"One Pocket is so slow...

...That some AZ political posters were playing a game of it in the NPR section, and those in the Main forum never knew about it until 10,990 posts/moves later, when one of the players actually shot at his hole in the Main forum!"

One pocket is so slow......

I was informed today that the tournament director is calling a foul on me....
....after reviewing a suspect hit....said that whitey was double hit.

I said "But my grandfather shot that!".
They told me "Family is family....you should get a shot by October...
....we'll call you."

:banghead:

One pocket is not near as slow or boring as 14.1..Many of the people coming up with all these lame "slow" examples, (disguised as jokes) are just too slow mentally, to ever learn to play a complicated game like one pocket!..It will really test your powers of concentration! :p

PS..I'd suggest taking lessons from CJ..He says he can teach you all he knows, (or ever knew) about 1P, in only two weeks! ;)

Maybe to an uneducated One Pocket spectator the game appears slow. As a player in the mix, that is rarely the case. While playing the game your mind must constantly be at work, even during your opponent's time at the table. Like a pitcher and batter, each, trying to outsmart the other with every pitch, One Pocket players are trying to out move their opponent with every turn at the table., At the same time they are trying to keep from getting out moved on their next inning. Then, when the opening comes for one player by way of a shot you will rarely see in any other pool game, the fireworks begin, and the game, when played properly is over in a flash.

So let me ask all you who see One Pocket as slow or boring, How do you like it when playing a set of Nine Ball, you are sitting in the chair for twenty minutes while your opponent runs five and six racks? Oh, I mean watching your opponent play a set of Nine Ball. Your not. You're just sitting there waiting for your turn at the table; and when it comes. What are you likely to see? Oh yeah, the rails, a kick, a jump shot, or a roll out. Now if that's your idea of fast fun, you can have it.That is never going to happen playing One Pocket. I'm getting to the table. And what about matching up? So some strong road player gives up the six and last three to you. You think you've got the nuts because you can run out too, but if you never get to the table, what good is it I ask you? At least with One Pocket you are guaranteed to reach the table, and that gives me some measure of control with every game. Not so with Nine Ball.

So if you want to be a spectator all your life, stick to watching football.

Now that I will agree with, but I feel that way about the other games too. So, do you enjoy watching two Nine Ball players (whoops, so called Nine Ball players) who run three or four balls and dog some easy shot, turn the table over and watch the other guy do the same thing? Poor play is poor play whether it's Nine Ball, One Pocket or any other game.

Tom

One thing about the novice player who likes Nine Ball that I have never understood. Maybe someone can explain it to me. If two player who have very little realistic hope of running a rack, why not play six ball instead? It's the same game but at least you have a fighting chance to break and run. Is it ego? These players can always graduate to Nine Ball when their skills improve.

1 pocket is so slow....I told the tournament director to put a shot clock on the players and he pulled out a sun dial.

Always glad when someone bumps this!
Too many great posts to quote.
Question. A friend lent me a DVD set of Ronnie Allen vs. Danny D.
I believe it's 6 discs!
How much time should I set aside to watch?.......:D

Right. Oh! Wait a minute..... Guess who switched to One Pocket? Old timers who won numerous Nine Ball championships like Buddy Hall, Nick Varner, Billy Incardona, Jimmy Reed, Alan Hopkins, Jose Parica, and Efren Reyes, I could go on and on. Let's not leave out the many young straight shooters too. Sylver, Justin Hall, Jeremy Jones, Tony Chohan, Joshua Roberts, Danny Smith, etc, etc.

Get with the program. It is a new age and it's all about One Pocket. It's an epidemic, catch it!

I think this thread is 1/2 serious, 1/2 sarcastic. To repeat.... the non 1p player thinks it's boring and slow that's fine. I have a guy in my clubhouse thinks 1P ruins a players 9ball game. He never played the 1P, has no idea what it's about but fast to condemn. I try hard not to laugh in his face. Me personally I can't sit and watch a guy run balls (14:1) ...talk about slow and boring. The fun and excitement of 1P..... the shot that gets you moving or out. Creating the trap, Reversing the trap. Turning the table around.
I'd rather play an A or B 1P player and get blown out.....I'd simply admire what has been done and learn a few things. One Pocket is slow......who's in a hurry.... I hate when the session is over.....I have to go home to my wife:killingme::killingme:..

Yeah, I know this thread is all about the humor. I get it. Some of the jokes are pretty good too. I just like seeing opportunities to take a shot at encouraging Rotation players to switch from checkers to chess.

I remember when I was a kid, I couldn't teach my Dad anything. He was pig headed and he thought he knew it all. Funny thing is, as I got older I found I don't know half as much as I did then.

Watching you play 1p, reading your book... "One Pocket ...A Game of Controlled Aggression" or taking lessons from you ain't no joke. Aside from illustrating how 1P
can /should be played your "Free" YouTube channel is a show,
Your book cannot be rushed...should be read slow(ly). Too much good stuff in there.

It's not that 1P is so slow.....it's the guy that inspects the rack for 5 minutes before breaking......... I'd rather be locked in booth with an insurance salesman.

Played a scotch doubles event months back. Slow as molasses. Some mule said one pocket was too slow. Then says how he's going play scotch triples......if I had had a rope I'd have hung myself right there.....smh

Because they like being told what to do tom.....that's why they only want to play rotation.

One pocket is a free man and thinkers game.

Which of course you know sir ;)
