Why pay to recover table

Just finished moving my new 9ft olhausen
I'll say, it's pretty basic that I understand how it goes together, setting it up properly is another can of worms I'll save for tmrw

I do however have a new found appreciation for the amount of physical work it takes and the little details it takes to do it right

I have access to a lot of tools, but machinist levels aren't one of those tools. I'm one of those ppl who prefer to do things myself, but in this case I'll leave it to the pros.

It's not a simple undertaking. I've watched the guys from Diamond recovering or installing 30+ tables at my home room over the last couple days. They make it look pretty easy.

[/[URL=http://s1075.photobucket.com/user/xracer110/media/image_zps2spe90da.jpeg.html] the corner has stripes from the window blind being 1/2 open but they are really smooth, didn't photograph well! As for my pool skill, I'm a real decent player👍

Hmmm....the rails I install new cloth on....don't have all them wrinkles under the cushions and in the pockets like your rails have.....you need more practice, or buy my DVD SET to learn how to do it right....before your consider charging someone for your professional services;)

More importantly, the quote above the table is wrong lol. And as a designer, my head explodes with everything on one line and "money" below it haha.

Nobody pats themselves on the back the way you do too. So, you're the best at that too!

Your table looks like a hack worked on it to, which is why you didn't show any close up pictures of the pockets....I see all the wrinkles in them too, but....even hacks take pride in their work....right:thumbup:

That's shading from the window blinds, I've got no wrinkles!!!!!! RKC is full of himself!! As I know the quote is wrong, ( it's not about money, it's about becoming someone" my daughter made me that sticker with out me asking! I don't have a problem with it! That's why there's no name associated with it! I wouldn't buy a RKC DVDs now or even recommend any to my pool world around me! That guy is an a#%hat! ohhhhh I've got wrinkles..........look again moron it window blind reflections! I could get banned off here and wouldn't care because of tools like him

Take some close up pictures in the pockets...then put your money where you mouth is! Take pictures up close under the cushions, I've been doing this work for to damn long not to know the difference between sun light and wrinkles and stretch shadows.....moron!

I was just thinking something RKC. That sounds like it was the posters first table recovering. You may not even realize there is a difference between constructive criticism and flat out condescending criticism. With constructive criticism you mention how they could have done better.

You pushed him to post his results so you could do this to him. How about you post on here images of the first table you ever recovered so we have something to compare it to. I say this because you come off on here as the best table mechanic of all time. Like nobody can do as good a job as you do.

Don't take too much offense by this I know you do some of the finest work out there after years of trial and error experience. I also know you have a reputation for quality over quantity, Meaning you don't concern yourself with how long a job takes to get it done right up to your own standards which are definitely much higher then most set.

Anyhow, Maybe you should also start a new thread so everyone can see the job you did on the first table you ever recovered completely on your own. I am quite sure I am not the only one that would be interested in seeing your early work. It would be a hot thread on here for sure if we could critic your first table as well. It might also give the op here something to compare his first try to as well. If you find images of the first table you ever recovered and look at them honestly now I bet you would see your own work as having been done by a hack as well. simply because you have likely learned something with each and every table you have worked on.

RKC post your prices!!!!!!!!!! Mine was free! It's about value, I've even said yours was better without even seeing a pic! What's your prices Champ?????? Post your prices, oh wait you won't do that will you! I'm not a table pro I'm a machinest and I'm not afraid to give my machining prices out lol, yes I'm a amature pool table cloth put-er on guy or felt master what ever you title your self. But with out prices your invalid.

Wait I just read you charge $2500 to redo a table. Is that right??????? If that's true my value just went up Wow with the money I saved playing on a slightly less than RKC reconditioning I can still take my wife on a cruise! Damn now I really want to see the price itemized

Good back and read post 59# where the OP said this was NOT his first table, and that in fact....he's done at least 50 tables before this one.

No problem with posting my prices....LMAO I charge $150 labor to recover most Valley style coin operated pool tables + my cost....NOT marked up for a hidden profit on Simonis cloth. Gold Crowns, $300 labor to recover plus additional repair labor if I have to repair anything out of the ordinary and once again, my cost on Simonis cloth....NOT marked up for a hidden profit. Diamond ProAms/Smart tables.... $250 labor, 9fts, $300 labor. Any additional repairs that need to be done, I charge $65 per hour. Anything else you want to know? And here's the real kick in the ass....I haven't changed my pricing in over 20 years....so how does that grab ya!!!
