More Affordable Predator Revo Cues

Just curious: could one of you proud and bulky Revo owners kindly whack one of these shafts against the metal trim on a GC and report back? I'd like to know how they hold up to dings off tables, shelves, armchairs, your opponent's dental work, etc.

Lou Figueroa
tank you
tank you
berry much

Is anything suppose to hold up if wacked against metal. Maybe I will strike the GC corner just to experiment. Hopefully I can break something.

Bar room brawl, that is where a revo will really shine.. ....even after removing some teeth lol

Lou...Been there, done that long ago. Already reported it here...NO DAMAGE. That said, you still won't believe it, and you will still badmouth the Revp shaft...because that's who you are! :D

Scott, I haven't bad mouthed anything... other than to comment that, as far as my sense of aesthetics are concerned, it's an ugly cue.

As to how dink-proof it is, you appear more than a bit biased, so I'll take your experience with a large lump of salt. Anywhos, time will tell.

the Bondo handy ;-)

The metal trim along the rails of a GCs have probably dinked 10's of thousands of pool cue shafts and are the bane of pool players world wide. Doesn't matter how careful you are, sooner or later, GC dink happens. I was just wondering how dink proof this new shaft is and how you'd fix it if it did dink.

I'm fortunate to have a CG 4 since 1998. To answer your concern. I will gladly report as soon as mine dings or does not ding in time. Are you interested in buying one or just waiting for the concept to fail. These cues are out for one week and you're looking to bring stress where there is none. Scott had his for a while. He puts a lot of mileage on his cues. Is Scotts review worthless? Anyway I had mine since Thurs and it's still going. If you are so curious simply buy one.... Beat the snot out of it and see how it goes. But let's be real. Can it nick. Did the Titanic sink?

My interest is purely academic.

If it can survive the normal dinks most pool cues are inclined to suffer -- without incurring damage that would result in damage -- tactile or visual -- that would be distracting to the average pool player, I say great.

It's a new material and I'm just curious, as a pool player who is very careful with his Ginacues but who has nonetheless had to steam some hellacious dinks out of his maple shafts, how this new stuff does out in the wild.

I'm more concerned with the durability than you are. I'm not one to buy into every sales pitch that goes with a new item. Have bought things with a lifetime warranty that was worthless...and claims that were a joke. Predator's disclosure is the shaft can/will nick if abused and conditions are right. We'll see how it goes. REVOs have been out for a while. No complaints....Go find one.
And lets go back to Scott Lee again. Is his review worthless? Scott is a first class straight shooter. (no pun). How many players have to call REVO a horse until we saddle it.
But .....The Titanic sunk. Safeties fail. Run-flat tires can go bad. I'm taking a (favorable) chance on the REVO.

REVO Technology

The REVO shaft’s accolades don’t stop with on-table performance either. It will never warp, and the shaft’s ultra-smooth finish is highly resistant to dings, dirt, and the wear and tear that a shaft sees during its lifetime.

No, Scott's review is not worthless. However, in the first instance, he has been touting the wonderfulness of this cue throughout the thread, even going to the point of joking, "Predator owes me a hell of a commission!"

In the second instance, he got his panties in a wad and threw a backhanded insult when, I guess, I had the temerity to wonder out loud if the new material could be dinked: "Lou...Been there, done that long ago. Already reported it here...NO DAMAGE. That said, you still won't believe it, and you will still badmouth the Revp shaft...because that's who you are!"

So, for me, his review is tainted. Not worthless, but smoodged up pretty good. Because of who he is :-)

Let's remove Scott from the picture. Scott has nothing to do with the shaft. I am searching for complaints and failures on the REVO. I need to find one quickly so I can return the cue in a reasonable time if I want the option to do so. Until then it gets an "A". But once again.....won't nick won't warp does not mean it's hammer proof or you can drive over it. I'll will put it to extensive use toward the end of Oct. Should it crap out you'll be the first to know. And I will return it for a refund... Not an exchange.
However I got over the first hurdle. As I brought the box in the door my wife asks me what is it. And I tell her the truth as always. It's a cue I had refinished. I dread getting caught in a fib..I'm not snip-proof :killingme::killingme:

Who's review would you consider worthy? And does it even matter? Is there really anything anyone could say or do that would bring you to even wanting to play with this shaft? I'd bet no.

Seriously, if you don't like the shaft, don't use the shaft. You're allowed to not like things. Just move on...

You have to progress to the point of getting your wife to buy the cue for you, grasshopper :-)

As to the cue, it's like I said: time will tell how well they hold up out in the wild.

There are lots of guys on this site whose opinion I respect.

And yes, I'm already on record as saying I'd never play with the cue. I think it's so ugly -- that for moi -- there are no benefits that would cancel out it's ugliness.

The reason I am still engaged in charming repartee in this thread is because I have been responding to Scott, GC, and now you.

So go pound sand. And I mean that in the nicest way :-)

On their website it says it is built from the C4+ Butt Technology, far from a decal cue. Do some research.

I did:

SP2REVO1

The people’s champion. Featuring Predator’s championship winning C4+ butt construction and the ground breaking REVO carbon fiber composite shaft, every limited production SP REVO cue was designed and developed to give your game the upper hand on the competition.
Matte black forearm and gloss point with Predator cat
•C4+ construction
•Predator gold stained curly maple

"Matte black forearm" sounds like paint to me. Also note the Predator gold "stained" curly maple. Curly maple butt stained gold but it doesn't say stained black forearm.

here is the response I got from the supplier.

Hello, they are painted points. You are pretty much buying the shaft and
lux wrap at that price

Is a filthy dark blue chalked shaft a showpiece. I don't see any benefit to playing with an expensive Gina Cue other than to flaunt. To nick the shaft or butt would be as bad as a shopping cart pressed against my car door. But yes the REVO is ugly. It's a tool. Does fashion matter. It does but here I was looking for different. I hope this is the only model they ever make. Cause I might bump it up to Double Ugly. I need another REVO like a snail needs air brakes.

Would you consider my review worthy? You would? Okay, here it is.
The cue stinks. It's uglier than a mud fence. It looks like who did it, what for, don't do it no more. That is one butt you don't want to wrap your hand around. I've seen better looking butts in an ash tray.
Need I go on? :D

If someone was given an item to promote it, their review means N O T H I N G! If, on the other hand, someone paid for an item with their hard earned money and is at least a somewhat reasonable person/player, then their review becomes interesting. That is not to say you have to buy an item to review it, but at least be somewhat impartial. Professionals endorsing products are completely without credibility.

Painted points...ewwww! If I got tricked into paying 900 dollars for cue with painted points, I'd go on a murderous rampage! The shaft and wrap are 900 dollars, huh? No shaft is worth that.
