Issues Blowing Up At The Tornado Open

Dozens of top-shelf professional players are chiming-in about their grievances with this event. Most of them are addressing the added money, which is nowhere near the "guaranteed" money posted on the promotional literature, fliers and articles distributed through the pool-world.

Other players are reporting: being treated disrespectfully, having their questions ignored, favoritism and just an altogether tense environment.

The players are not known to stir pots and include the likes of Tony Chohan, Darren Appleton, John Morra, Rodney Morris, Devin Poteet, Drake Niepoetter, Mike DeLawder, and many more..

The players are not known to stir pots? That's funny.

Well John Disque

You start a thread tarnishing Vivian's reputation with no specific facts or situations. Just a lot of "Blah Blah Woof Woof" to act like you know something.

If you have specific information post it. If not why did you even start this thread.

There's more....

Josh Roberts also chimed and said it was the worst tournament he's ever been to.

Also Mike Davis, who confirmed everything the players were saying, stated that they're being treated rudely. He also said SVB was trying to get the players together and walk out based on the added money not being what was advertised.

Two top players forfeited.

I'll have the details of everything as soon as I get it all put together.

My concern is with the sport and the players.

The entire issue is evolving as players continue to add new information, questions and comments. A lot of them.
If you want to try to keep up with it - there's some on tony Chohan's FB page.

Folks should not jump the gun and start shooting the messenger
The promoter is not always right nor are the players always wrong. This culture of always defending the promoter first over players is getting absurd . Without promoters there are no tourneys but without players there are no promoters
:D

Agreed. That said, I pointed out early on that VV was changing the rules AFTER they were posted on the flyers. YOU CANNOT DO THAT, and expect the players to be "okay" with it. This is the same thing as what happened with the Galveston Open a few years ago. A one time event, that got screwed up, and will never happen again.

Promoters keep screwing the players.
Players begin to organize.

Whats next rules and equiptment standardization?

The internet is going to ruin everything

Yeah Mark, and the problem is that the players are so starved, that they keep showing up...even "knowing" that they'll likely get screwed, one way or another. That's the sad state of pro pool in this country. I wish it wasn't that way. :frown:

Without Added money there isnt any need to try and be a promoter. Whenever an event is advertised that should be the first questions.

Where is the money coming from?
What is it dependent on?

Who ever adds the money has to get some kind of value from it or they arent going to add the full amount. This is whats killing pro pool. The people who would have been adding money all along dont see value in the sport.

Nothing less should of been expected when someone wants to promote the event, run the event, play in the event, that is a recipe for disaster. It's called GREED.

But with that said, on the website it did say "x" amount added with "x" amount of entrants in each event, it was plain as day when you were paying your entry. Now on the other hand on the fliers which most see, it did not have that information. Of course most top pros would never see this as they don't pay their entries. So it was messed up and kind of misleading in one spot and not the other from the outset. It's called inexperience, and she is that at running events
