RIP "Cobra" Coby Atkins. You inspired everyone in central Pennsylvania to play pool. Most of us would never have played if it were not for Diamond Billiards.

It didn't hit me at the time why you stopped me outside of the Elks lodge and made sure I took your pic, but this is why - to remember you at your best. Your best was even though you were gravely ill, you still LOVED pool and wanted to compete, and did.

You created a legion of pool players in this area and you will be sorely missed.

Sad to hear. I corresponded with him a lot on AZ. Good guy. Prayers for his family.

Spidey,

Are you talking about topcat1953? Was it Coby who, with Gordy, ran the PA State 8 Ball in Lancaster for soooooo many years? If so, I'm nearly speechless. He was a great guy who certainly did a lot of great things for pool outside of Diamond Billiards. Major loss. My condolences to his family.

I'm asking these questions as the person whom your photo shows does not look like the Coby I knew. Guess a persons health does change their looks. Sad, very sad.

Coby ran great tournaments. Coby was always courteous, respectful and made me always feel welcome when going to his tournament and room.

It sad news to hear of this loss.

Poor guy. I remember him from Diamond Billiards. The Scruggs Tour stopped at his room a few times. He looks so much thinner in this photo than I remember, which was about 13 years ago. He told me then that he was sick. He must have put up a heck of a battle to fight it. May he RIP.

That's him. He's had terminal cancer for a while. He was a good friend and will be sorely missed.

Coby and I spoke on the phone several times over the past few years, as he was very interested in becoming part of the PBIA program. Sadly, it was not meant to be. Great guy, with many great pool accomplishments over the years. My condolences to his family and friends.:(
