2016 US Open 9 ball/ 9ft (16-22 Oct2016) Norfolk, Virginia (Winner $50K)

The last 6 winners of this event have all been king of the hill.

That is irrelevant.

How many went to down to the wire?

At no time, should the guy in the winner's bracket be "forced" to play a single-match final. If they chose to do so and lose, then they have nobody to blame.

Didn't Jayson Shaw run a "pack" and knock somebody out when he was way behind yesterday? Why should the guy in the winner's bracket be subject to such a "come back" when maybe he is on the hill in a single elimination format in the final? If the guy does the same thing in the second match, then you were meant to lose.

Shane's not breaking as good as Shaw
Racks 9, 10, 11 Shane had wet break but no shot on lowest number so had to push out
He won the exchange on all 3 racks so now just 1 behind Shaw
Shaw 6-5

TPA Shane 939
Shaw 909

Shane miscues on the 7-ball.
It looked like a foul to me ( double hit ).
Shaws gets a Tom Cruse layout.
7-5 Shaw.

Again wet break no shot on low number Shane push out and Shaw sells out
Looks like Shane missed a ball as Shaw wins the rack now ahead 7-5

Wow nice break by Shaw shot on 2 which he misses
Shane plays safe but Shaw makes a ball and running out until he scratches
Shane gets out
Shaw 7-6
