Who is the cue expert?

I have to agree with that. I think it will happen. When? I don't know. It still seems there is always a frenzy to refinish cues.

But I agree as well, lets not distract.

I am still curious about who else might have knowledge about some of the cues mentioned or perhaps some that have not yet been mentioned.

We certainly have covered a lot of names and makes at this point.

.

I am a near expert on the K Mart cues, what yards wanna know!

It's AWESOME! I fight my way out with it splitting it many times , THEN I sell the wrap to a tennis player. It's Gold Jerry, it's gold!!!!

Kenny Bania! It's the best, Jerry, the best!!!

I can think of two Jerry cuemakers. I'm pretty good on one, not so good on the other.

"It's soup, Jerry, that's not a meal!"

I don't think Joel or Ivan post but Will Prout does, and he's well educated when it comes to several great cue makers.

Joe Gregory ( I cant remember your azb name ! sorry !) is a Spain expert.

Myself, I focus on construction methods, and makers prior to 1930.

Very impressed you picked that up for real, great job!! Lol

Although they don't post much here anymore....Tikkler for anything high end, and Shadowmoss for Scruggs/ Cochrans. Also +1 for Skins...not just Joseys...he knows his stuff. Also TW for everything under the sun...pretty much seen it all at one time or another I imagine.

Thank you!

And that prior to 1930 period is important. The information gets so thin so fast as we go back, it is really important to preserve whatever is left. And then of course, pass it on here at AZB when appropriate or requested.

Thanks! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

And +1 for Tikkler, he has a special place in my heart.

I am an expert in overpriced pawn shop cues from all makers!

Rambow - Deno Andrew
Spain cues and blanks - Hercek
McDermott - Robin Adair (Rockin' Robin here)

no Meucci experts? i mean, they're easy to identify, so perhaps it's pointless.

We have one or two that know them well.

But I want to hear from others, I already named some people and the cues they know.

So who is really up on their Meucci knowledge around here?

They usually aren't too hard, but there is more to it than some think. Like what does it mean when there is a shallow groove turned in the butt sleeve? The early Meucci cues had nylon inserts (like Huebler). Lots to know about Meucci. And Meucci worked with others before he went on his own. He was integral in the history of the vinyl veneers many call WICO.

Lots of stuff to know and connections with cue history.

OK- Regarding various makers and manufacturers, who is the expert here on AZB?

With all due respect, when it comes to information, the internet can sometimes be it's own worst enemy. In my experience, some of the people who are the best sources of information, in this case billiards, do not readily participate in online forums.

Agree, I mentioned earlier, Tim (Skins) an expert on Bushkas.

As long as this thread goes beyond living cuemakers, I would also say Tim is as knowledgeable as anyone on Szamboti (both Gus and Barry), as well as Southwest, and Tascarella. That's only a partial list. Obviously the cuemakers he designs for are included, as well as others.

When we get down to the thousandth of an inch in discussion, I know the guy knows his stuff.

All the best,
WW

Believe me, I know that. Including about cues, of course.

But I think we have a pretty cool community here and thought it would be cool to see what people thought about this.

The reason it came to mind was that something came up about a cue and a couple specific people immediately came to my mind regarding that cue because I felt they would probably know.

Because of that, I was wondering who would come to mind for others regarding various makes and models, that's all.

Not trying to create any kind of list of experts or registry or anything. Not trying to say who is more of an expert. Just curious about who we think of on this forum when certain cues come up as far as identifying them or knowing things about them.

Just passing curiosity and casual conversation.
That's all.

Another thing I am wondering is if we come up with some odd balls will we find out that somebody unexpected knows a great deal about them?

Like: "Hey, my grandfather was the manager at Oliver Briggs (or Victor or Luscher) and I have all the old documentation in my attic as well as a collection of 100 original cues"...or something like that.

I admit I could have made a better title or stated my intentions better. But, it has been pretty cool so far anyway.
