Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

I think Rick was pointing out that there are only a finite number of cut angles out of the object ball by using a CTE method. I agree with that. I also believe that CTE isn't used 'to aim at will' at a precise spot you happen to need. For example a bank into a frozen ball cluster to make one of them. Not as I understand it but I'm still a noob at this.

These are my assumptions and I may be wrong on both points. I'll wait and make sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

A CTE visual can make a number of angles. When considering the 15 and 30 as the most potent of the 2 line visuals, 9they alone can pocket most all shots somewhere that can occur on a 2x1. Throw a CB OB on the table and the 15 -30 is a solid bet for getting the OB to the heart of a right angle.

No, developing memories is not in any way a part of it. Quite simply, when learning CTE it is best to have a complete view of the center of the CB without any interference from the tip. Once a player learns what to see during offsets then the tip at CCB can be filtered out with learned focusing skills.

thank you stan for your reply and clarifying that for me

Spidey, I am as close as I can be to pulling the trigger on a long vacation, without doing so. Do not post in this thread again.

I was thinking of the manual style with a 1/2 ball hip pivot. Using it the lines out of the cue ball are 'fixed' to the angle the visual gives you. There are only as many lines out as the number of visuals. But the "fixed' lines will vary in angle out of the object ball according to ball position. I could alter the object ball by taking a different rotation point than offered by the visual but it would be just an educated guess. I haven't looked much at the visuals that don't lead to the pocket and considered their paths. I'm still working on that hole part.

The sweep method does look to have more variability in choice of angles for the same visual. I can think of a certain 5 ball shot. I like to know how 'granular' the system is. It a smooth continuous angle selection or does it come in discrete 'steps' of angles.

I have said multiple times and this will likely be my last. The 5 ball shot is not the same as it was a few years ago. It is best to put ithem aside for now until I correctly present that grouping of shots again. The same concerns will still be there but for now it's apples and oranges.

There are some that want to corner me with those 5 shots and keep bringing them up. I am a big boy and my goal is to correctly state all errors that I am aware of in one chapter of my book for DVD1 and 2 PLUS one dedicated chapter for the 5 that is referenced so often.

when do you think the book will be finished ?
and how can i be sure i get an early copy??

I'm sorry I brought the subject (5) up and I didn't expect you to answer it. I should have used a smiley or something. Just goofing, my bad.

But for curiosity's sake and just for enlightenment, if a player had to shoot a bank into a frozen set of balls, assuming just a half table distance for the complete shot, how high is the confidence level the player will have to hit the correct side of the first frozen ball after you're confident with the system? I hope you don't consider this an unfair question. I'd be happy to be able to have 'correct side' confidence with shots like this.

More confident than I would be with any of my long gone previous approaches of many years ago.
Tough shot period....3 variables to factor: aim, speed and spin. Your talking about a bank combo........CTE lends a lot of info for that kind of alignment in spite of no obvious connection to a right angle. I would still the advantages of CTE for a shot like you describe.

Thanks, I know I was asking you a question about using the system in an unconventional manner. I was trying to see it could be used in different ways and if it could be applied at targets other than the pocket.

CTE is a way of shooting. CTE is not an easy approach that is used here and used there. CTE is iused as an every shot method for whatever: pocketing, safes kicks combos caroms---
CTE is a way of play. Hal always referred to CTE as a professional system. No professional will ever use CTE effectively until they learn it inside out so that it is inherent in every shot they shoot.

Safes?

I think in your previous posts you mentioned doing a little run of YouTube videos. Would it be possible to touch briefly on safeties using CTE on a couple demonstrations without giving away too much of what will be in the book?

Essentially, once you learn to use your vision effectively for pocketing you will you use vision in the same manner for all other shots. It is not a good idea to switch between CTE vision and conventional vision......Occassionaly, for some set-ups I may use PRO ONE or even manual.....but most all of my shots are CTE PRO ONE.
Yes...on video.

I was not saying that there is a small finite number of angles that can be had from any "CTE" method.

What I was saying is that in 'Stan's' two lines 'system' those visuals that utilize the defined 'objective' points & the lines between them 'objectively' put the shooter on that ONE SINGULAR LINE where both visual lines can be seen equally & simultaneously.

From that SINGLE PHYSICAL LINE...

IF the pivot is precisely defined (such as a 1/2 tip offset & pivot to CCB) & IT is the ONLY one available & THE ONLY ONE USED then only one line to the OB for each side of pivot can be had for a total of ONLY TWO LINES from that objective visual.

Anything more is simply NOT obtained by an objective means but is instead obtained & delivered from out of the subjective realm.

I'll just stop there other than to say...

I welcome anyone to show otherwise... but ONLY with SCIENCE & not any speculation of matters that simply are not true, such as that "the balls present themselves differently depending on where they are on the table" & that means that the edge is different & that the points on the balls are different.

Those points & lines are defined by the SINGULAR LINE where both can be seen equally & simultaneously. Hence they will yield the same Singular Physical Line where the TWO Lines can be seen Equally & Simultaneously every time regardless of where they are in the Universe or on any size & shape of table.

If an individual can not realize these simple facts then any discussion with them is futile & basically useless.

I sincerely hope that any post regarding this will be ON the subject matter & not attacks of the messenger... because the poster has nothing of significant substance to offer.

All the Best for You & Yours & ALL.

I can use a 2 line visual and half tip pivots with my cue and pocket balls with different angles. Will demo that over and over in my clinics. BUT I AM NEARLY 7 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY UNDERSTANDING OF PIVOTING AND I CAN ASSURE EVERYONE THAT READS THIS THAT YOU ARE STUCK AT SQUARE ONE SND HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT WHAT I AM DOING WITH CTE.

And whose fault would that be?

You know what thrills me.....a brilliant man like yourself and ENGLISH who' has each had access to the same material as I have......are clueless about CTE..LMAOROTF....HAHAHA.....

My main issue with you is that you prefer to make outcasts out of students of the game who want to understand what you seem to know and ask completely legitimate questions. In my book, that's an unfortunate habit for someone who has spent his life as an educator, to put it kindly.

Great.....I absolutely see you as an outcast to CTE. I care to never in any kind of way ever give you the time of day. Leave me the crap alone, Man!

Fine, fine. See my post in the other thread. As you can see, I'm not posting much here lately. I'm happy just to stop in now and then to see how new posters are getting along with their CTE education.
