This left foot position works for hard "thick" to to the right (thin to the left).
And it is used for medium speed banks the same way.
Of course, I don't expect you to know that banks don't go like cuts.

At 16.17 he shoots the same angle to the right with different left foot position and different speed.
He keeps his front foot parallel to the shot line. Lots of people do. Never heard of it being for the reasons you suggest

At 26.21 same angle bank to the right (not left I think) with medium stroke.
In this shot his foot is parallel to the shot line ????
