Question for people who were looking to buy a cue from one of the dealers at the DCC.

I was checking out the cues at one of the dealers booths, and I noticed a Richard Harris sneaky pete.

It was beautiful, I thought.

I did not ask the dealer how much it was, because I did not want to waste his time with the question (knowing that I would not have been able to buy it).

Anyways, I wonder how much the dealer was asking for that cue.

There were a lot of very nice custom cues, but they did not have price tags on them.

I am just wondering if you thought the asking prices that the dealers were charging were reasonable, or if there were any really good bargains to be found from one of the dealers.

I thought about trying to get an even trade for my cue, but I did not think my cue would be worth much (if anything) on a cue trade, and they would have probably wanted cash added, if I had found something that I thought might be a fair trade (on their end).

The cue I have is from an unknown cue maker (in Texas), so I figured that it would probably have been worth very little to any of the dealers there.

It was really cool seeing so many nice customs though.

I can only imagine how much the price tags on most of the cues were (probably very high).

I seen a very nice South East (Nat Green custom) cue in one of the dealers booths, and it had an $1100 price tag on it. That was just one example of a cue I really liked. There were many others.

Well I figure we might as well let you in now since it's done. Good thing you didn't waste your time. It would have been near impossible for you to buy or even trade a cue at DCC. Starting about a day and a half before the public was allowed admission, word was out out about you, in the form of ( at the last count 738 text messages ) forewarning folks that you were gonna be in da houś.

Lol, you are very funny.

Why would you even consider Bluegrass?
It has a curved taper and gets fat in the middle.
Nowhere near the Meucci taper you like.

Curved taper ? Do u mean the parabolic taper similar to southwest.
Gosh u even rememberd Justin's preference.
Are ya thinking of making a cue for him pro-bono n still be bombarded with messages of the cue not being right n seeing it for sale on Az 2 weeks later in a Raffle lol

I'll sell my bocote and purpleheart Harris sneaky pete as is today for $525 shipped. It has a few dings and light scratches. It was my league bar beater. It's about 19.3 oz and around 13.1 mm. Has 1 shaft with old yellow micarta ferrule and medium Kamui Clear with about half its life left. It also has the fancy ringwork. It's the bottom cue in the picture. Don't bother asking me about the others. :)

The cue was so beautiful, I thought. The shafts on all of the cues were not shown on display, so I did not see the shaft.

Is this not you (who posted a reply under a different user ID) who replied to the OP in this thread below?

I am very curious to know, because if that was you, then your comments in that thread are the reason for me purchasing the Mireles cue that I now have.

That is a beautiful cue (Bocote into Purple heart?). I would buy it if I had the money. I always wanted to try out a Richard Harris cue. I heard such great feedback about them in the past.

I agree, cut out the middle man. If you want to trade you might have to go through a third party because a lot of cue makers don't want to trade but with cash go to the cue maker and if you want an extra shaft made you are talking to the man.

That is a good reason but not the only reason...speaking from personal experience

i have not been out much
but i always liked buying from the dealers at the shows

sure i might have saved $100 or so,but they always have good selections
also as a group,i trust them at least as much as from a cue maker

these guys provide a good service,i have bought from and sold to several of them and never had a problem

there is something to be said for seeing what you buy, even hitting it,at least holding it,saving the hassle of postage and leaving with exactly what you bought

also most of those guys can answer questions and give tips

Yes, the prices were somewhat high but not unreasonable as they have been in the past. Typically there is also some wiggle room but in the end i know what these guys are paying for booth space and hotels so i know they have to make out a little better than i do on a deal.

Most of them love to wheel and deal and make trades but they typically steer away from mass produced and lower end cues unless you really want to take a hit on it.

I ended up getting a great deal on a Mezz break cue by having cash and making some offers. I looked at a nice Tascarella but couldn't make anything work out.
