Any decent one hole player knows the value of a good intentional foul, but I had a kid play one on me I've never seen anyone else do.
I had him in big trouble, and he reached into his corner pocket and pulled a ball out and spotted it. I asked what the hell that was supposed to be, and he said he's taking a foul.
We were only playing $50/game, so I let it go. I'm 48 years old, and the kid's probably 21 and plays strong. Maybe it's the generational gap, but claiming a foul without actually shooting a foul doesn't seem right.
Out of curiosity, is this becoming a new trend? Or has it always been part of the game and I've been fortunate enough to avoid having it happen to me?
I suppose the next time I trap a guy that pulls that move on me again, I'll pull the same move right back. As long as he starts it he'll either be forced to make a move or he'll hit three consecutive fouls and forfeit the game.
What do you think?
