Orcullo vs. Frost- Live Reports

yea man scott can't win playing like this...he is getting rob! I would lay 4 to 1 and take dennis from here

Playing like what? I just wanna say something, the way you play in a race to 40 one pocket against top competition IS the way you play. It's the very definition of the way you play. The way you practice isn't the way you play, the way you play in a 50 dollar entry tournament on your local tables isn't the way you play, the way you play against a d player giving 12-3 isn't the way you play, the way you play on your DVD knocking in every eight railer and getting perfect shape isn't the way you play. THIS is the way he plays. He's got attitude and ego problems that have stopped him from being dominant for longer than he could have been in my opinion, and we are just seeing Scott frost. I think he would admit as much, at least if he really put some thought into it and let go of his ego, which is probably the biggest detriment to his game. Sorry, I just dont like this "he's not playing his normal game" sentiment, and I'm not necessarily directing all of this at you so much pookster :)

Here's a few things you don't know about Dennis' 1-pocket game:

1/ Dennis gave a good 1-pocket local player 15-2 and all the breaks, $100 a game and beat him.

2/ Dennis easily beat Chip Compton playing 1-pocket for the cash. (Chip is betting on Dennis in this match).

3/ Dennis easily beat Danny Smith for 6k (or more) playing even 1-pocket.

4/ Dennis played Efren even a while back and lost.

5/ he constantly stays in action.

The point is his 1-pocket knowledge has improved leaps and bounds recently. And as straight as he shoots?

Scott has been FANTASTIC at managing Dennis's coins but now that he owes one he magically forgot to give himself a coin.

It's a $200,000 game and they can't get an official scorer?

Sometimes the commentators don't know the score and in the last game it did not appear that the players had the score right when Scott did not put up a coin.

Please let's have some respect for this big match and get an official scorer!

This match is like Woodley vs Wonderboy, when Bruce Buffer said "AND STILL"...if Scott wins people gonna look at each other like DAFUQ just happened :grin::grin::grin::grin:

Agree Raise. Its funny, almost like if it wasn't reported on AZ it didn't happen. Lots of action happens that never makes it to the web...

I have watched quite a bit of it. I can tell you one thing, if you let Dennis see anything he thinks he can make, he's coming with it. Man that guy is one straight shooting MOFO. Not only that, he banks extremely well. Gonna be hard for Scott to come back unless Dennis has an extremely bad day tomorrow.

There were a couple games Scott was on 7 and Dennis came back and won. You can't let this guy see anything, or at least that is how he was playing today. If I could play half that good I'd be a hero instead of an old zero. :grin-square:

The pinpoint accuracy of some of Dennis' long position play has been simply amazing.

I've not been a big fan of Dennis before when watching his 9-ball pattern racking soft break games but in this 1p game he's doing some serious shooting at times.

Btw. Is one of the commentators some random dude picked from the bar? Kind of odd when a commentator asks about basic pocket billiards rules...

He is a volunteer. We had Jeff Carter and Chris Gentile in earlier but it got late and they were out so we put him in there. Joshua is a good guy but green to one pocket and is mainly an 8 ball and rotation guy.

It was good when he was in there with Jeff Carter because for those watching the game who are new. We have had many viewers who have never seen or watched it before they are also learning. So basically Joshua would pick Jeff's brain and Jeff was laying down the knowledge not just to him but many out there who are not seasoned diehards with knowledge of the game.

I also have been putting up the basic object of the game from time to time on the screen to help viewers understand what is going on. I can only imagine the amount of people who happened upon the stream on say YouTube who are thinking that these two guys are terrible at 8 ball. :grin-square:

Very good observation and those games Scott had the lead were around of them in the past 3 days and Dennis stole them needing all the balls or close to it. The score could be much closer if those games went as they were supposed to by percentages. People just see the score but don't realize how close it really is between these guys.

I would argue that being up 7-0, playing an absolutely idiotic shot, and losing that rack means it is NOT CLOSE at all. (I refer specifically to yesterday when Scott had Dennis down 7-0 with a great uptable wedge, smashed it open on purpose to try and win right there with a very low-percentage shot, and Dennis executed him the next inning)

Two classes of player out there.

Those people saying that are used to seeing Scott overpower his opponents. When Scott is the better player in a match up, he can really look special. He has as much talent and knowledge combined as anyone alive. As you mentioned, he is emotionally unstable, always has been. I'm not bashing him, or talking shit. I like Scott, he is as fun to be around on his good days as anyone and one hell of an entertainer when things go his way.

He does have a lot of heart so I guess a comeback is technically possible although highly unlikely because Dennis does not have "off" days. He has the best cue ball control in the world today and we are seeing it on display here.

I am rooting for Scott but I predicted a 10 game difference in favor of Dennis before this started. That's looking to be right on track
