Wow, that's deep. As far as rotation games two words sum it up: BAR BOX. Almost all U.S. tournaments are on the bar-table. That's why CSI is moving their championships back to 9ft'rs. You can't spend all your time in the kiddie pool and expect to win in a Olympic-size pool. The U.S can't win world titles out of the U.S in 8,9,and 10 ball. All the top U.S players are playing one pocket. I guess they have to play it because that's where most of the action is now. Johnnyt

It may not be the biggest reason but it IS a factor. All the European and Asian events are played on 9ft. tables. That's ALL these players know. In the U.S. there's about 7 events a year the top players enter that are on big tables. Say a guy plays a barbox event and then flies overseas to a big table tournament. Even with a day of practice he's still at a disadvantage to full-time big table players.None of the top players spend all their time on Bar Box Tables. They all gamble on the 9' tables and spend all the practice time on 9' tables, so have a couple of events on the big tables is not going to help any American player win anything.
There are lots of factors that prevent American players from winning, but the table size is not one of them.
I gotta hear this. How? Top players have been gambling since pool started. In its so-called heydays(30's-60's) they weren't any tournaments that paid worth anything. Players then and now can't live off tournament winnings unless maybe they are in the top3-5 in the world. You don't think the Euro & Asian players aren't matching-up for the cash? Believe me they do, a lot. Lack of any major sponsorship(or t.v.) is what keeps pool where it is.What is being overlooked is gambling has killed pro level pool.

BAM! Score!!! Couldn't agree more. But the lack of action, excitement, and entertainment value has killed pool, thanks to the pool purists who enjoy watching robotic tournament soldiers playing mum pool. Therein lies the problem why pool is circling the drain in America. In sum, pool needs more gambling, not less.

A country of 320 million people, facing off against every other country in the world totaling over 7 billion people. That gives a 95% edge to the world as far as talent pool.

So how do you explain the Philippines domination for 30 years? Why doesn't Mexico have more to notch players? Where are all the players from India or Japan?
