Did you watch the stream? There was no "bad roll', he missed the match 8 ball after getting just a little funny on his second to the last ball before the 8. He tried a risky position play and left himself a makeable but tough 8 for the match. I would say Thorpe's chance of getting out with the 3 balls he had left was about 95-99%, probably the same of Joey running out his open table after the miss. I understand the frustration but not smart to concede, IMO He messed up, Joey could've too.

At the Xbo yrs back raked 5 conceded the next game told him to break the next set won 5-2 5-3 actualy did the same thing 2 rounds later won that also cashed 32-64 out of 1k +

What they should do is initiate a new rule where if you concede a game your entry fee has just increased by X amount. That way everyone wins, the fans and the players. But, for some reason we are just content with letting people get away with acting like apes.

You never know. Your opponent might somehow dog a ball. Even if he leaves you bad on a miss or safety, you might get lucky on a kick shot

While I find the act of raking an entire rack hard to justify, I doubt Billy would want to win by getting lucky on any match. I'd imagine at that level of pool, not winning 100% on the merits of your skill would piss you off.

Kind of a silly proud statement there.

Joey was in a position to win by "getting lucky" prior to the rake wasn't he? Didn't see him whining that he didn't deserve it. Probably didn't even cross his mind.

There is no "level of pool" where easy layouts can't be screwed up or easy shots missed. Billy proved that moments earlier. And this has been proven so many times in the history of pool that it's really not up for debate. Joey was probably going to run out. Or was he? We'll never know.

stupid move on many levels. he shows how he acts under adverse conditions. his future might be good as a player but may not as a person or good sportsman.

That's all fine and well, eric moreman, but i think you left one big question unanswered: where do you play and how many days a week and if it's just one day, what day is it?
 
I don't know if any of you world class players on here know this but some times when humans play a game Thier emotions get the best of them and they do stupid stuff..like rake all the balls off the table in a hill hill match. I watched a guy at the super billiards expo head butt the slate until his head was bleeding after missing a shot. In other words..we all do stupid shit when we are frustrated with our performance.

Yes, its true...With the possible exception of SVB, (and very few others) many of our better US players have become habitual whiners, about bad rolls etc.!..Its like they have a sign on their forehead that says, "I am unlucky, I can't win"!...Do they not know, that projecting a winning attitude is the most important ingredient in any game! :sorry:

PS..Thanks for the welcome to AZB, Jenny!.. But except for my frequent 'vacations', (bans) I've been here about 10 yrs. now! :grin:

If I would have bet on a player to win, goes on tilt and concedes at hill hill with opponent left with 7 balls, I would tilt too. :eek:
 
Lots of people who have never made a mistake or done something stupid, in life or competition in here. It was probably a poor choice on his part. But can we allow someone to make a mistake and it be just that, a single mistake and not something that defines this person?
 
Shit happens when you are frustrated. Who can say they have always made the correct decision, and have never made a bad one when they were a little upset. NONE is my guess.

It was his entry fee, and his game. If he wanted to concede after the first rack that is his business. I saw Ronnie O. concede a snooker match, not just a game but the entire match, to Hendry early on. I really don't see the horror of it all.

I've seen dozens of pros show poor etiquette, far worse than this. Joey could have missed, but I'd say the point of him raking them was that he didn't deserve to win the match, missing that out.

If only you folks were on a live stream more often, might see who the hypocrites are around here
