Trump gets $40,000 for running out one rack

Well, it's actually the other Trump, the one who plays snooker, and it's not called a rack -- it's called a "frame", and he is going to be paid in pounds, not dollars, but here is the 9 minutes that is worth $4400 per minute:

Yes and its on POUNDS godammnit , and not forgetting an additional 4000 pounds for highest break which is him as well as no one made a 147 in that tournament so Judd trump pockets 44000 Ibs for just a 10 minute runout but again snooker's an entirely different monster game, much harder in fact.

Thats sad.. a snooker player gets paid that amount which already supasses the prize money for world 9 ball or us open 9ball when he hasnt even won the tournament.

That's what sponsorship and betting does for a game - big numbers.

Gotta agree with the announcer, how did that red @3:06 even go in with that speed? that was a hell of a shot.

So what do you think would be the pool equivalent of a 147? Or are the differences too great to make.
That side pocket shot was amazing!

This is why they get the big sponsers ,and big money. An incredible accomplishment to run a 147. American pool, any Joe can run a rack of 8 ball,9 ball. When fans see someone do something that is impossible for them, they are totally impressed, and dont soon forget it .

I've read on here plenty of times that a 150 and out in straight pool in tournament play would be the equivalent as that requires a ton of concentration.

Couple of things that I believe make 150&out harder in straightpool.

You have to break the stack many more times.

Run 149 and miss you can still get beat.

The last is an important point. After the player gets to 80 at snooker, there is no fear of the other player beating him as there aren't enough points left. There is only the fear of missing the 147. And not getting the high break prize.

I agree that its probably harder (if the pockets are sufficiently tight): in snooker the colors get replaced on specific spots. A snooker player can count on, say the blue, being in the blue spot and using it to break open the pack.

In 14.1, every rack is the wild frontier.

Do you know what the new 147 payout formula is?

Every tournament that sees no maximum break carries over a $4000 prize that keeps building until someone gets a 147 clearance?

Plus he got $12,500 for making the qf's

Yes, the 147 roll-over prize accumulates. Here is info from a snooker site:

Trump stands to pocket a bonus of £30,000 prize money for his achievement, should the break not be matched, and an additional £2,000 for the highest break award.

I think I saw somewhere that the roll-over is 5000GBP per tournament.

As an outsider looking in(as in I have no idea what the state of pro pool is when it comes to who governs it), I find it hard to believe that noone has found a way to make a pro tour out of the many pro events happening in the USA year round.

Also, I may not know much about how sponsorships work, but you'd think someone would find a way to make money off of beer or bar food endorsements with this game.

enjoyed that,
as for as the game, a - billiards, time - consumed, money - value = attraction - reward;
just hasn't aligned for the American attention, in mass, yet.
