Why would you do this if you have played this long in the tournament. It doesn't make sense. You are in Vegas for more events.

Well, it's possible that they have to play in Poland tomorrow. That's when the pool competition begins in the World Games. Or maybe it's something else.

It is also possible that either or both of them found an action match. Given how low the payouts are for that event, a decent action match may be a better investment.

There have been several forfeits by big name players- Morris and Chohan forfeited out of the us open 10 ball.

On a side note, some of the guys that played in the us open 10 ball and are also signed up for the us open 8 ball haven't played in the challenge tournaments for some reason- for example, Orcollo. Are they just busy gambling at griffs?

Nobody is gambling at pool. Bobby Emmons is about the only one looking for action, the other guys aren't even in the pool room - VEGAS

The payouts don't make sense. Which is why you see so many forfeits by the pros.

Right, it makes a lot of sense to pay $160 and then drop out. If they place in the top 24 they get their money back, and if they win it they get 12 times their entry fee.

Now you went and done it! How dare you make sense in this thread

Well, it may make some sense if they find action. If they win the event they get well under $2,000. If they get good action they may get way more than that. I'm not saying that happened (since I don't know), but it is more likely given the low money than if it were the actual US Open events with $15k for first.

Aint no pool bein played in Vegas

Last year the Eight Ball, 9-Ball and Ten Ball Open bar table events all had decent prize money, like five or six thousand for first, maybe more in the Eight Ball. They had some added money to bulk up the purse. I guess they saved all the added money for the two events at Griffs. I have no idea why they spaced them so far apart. Looks like they wanted to hold everyone there as long as possible. It was kind of misleading going in, no one saw this coming.

I heard they met two nice and respectable ladies and decided to take them out for dinner and to see a movie. After that the four of them were going to go eat some ice cream and talk about the movie.

When I was in Vegas for the VNEA tournament in 1987, Tommy Kennedy was drawing a lot of attention with his play and his juggling. He was in the top 8 of the master's division when he forfeited a match. Heard later that he played his next opponent the night before in a money match, and they played for their tournament matchup also. Tommy lost, so forfeited in the tournament.

Of course, this may have been a rumor and he just overslept.

Action requkres 2 players. A pro would prob have options:
Play another pro,
Play someone worse cheap
Give up the nuts and try to outrun them.

None of those are looking real good.
