Maryland State Bar Table 10-ball Championships (Aug 12-13)

I'd still bet on ya Jammy! 😊. I know anyone runnin around with Geese is one tough cookie !

Keith is always telling me I have a little Geese in me. I'm not sure how to take that, whether it's a compliment or whether it's a trait of Geese's sparkling personality when he's stuck. :p

Okay. Gold Star goes out to who can name these Maryland pool peeps. This was the 1986 Maryland State Championship. I was the tournament director. This is during the players meeting.

The one on the left looks like he could be Karen Corr's Uncle! Lol

I see rich allen, jimmy mac (featured in playong off the rail), and tom wirth. No idea on the far L dude though.

Can i win a shirt? Seriously, i want one and cant get to laurel...

Are they playing if you call a shot, miss it and hook your opponent, the incoming player can pass the shot?

For those curious about the rules, here's a snapshot:

The tournament will be played on 16 Diamond bar tables using a STANDARD WOODEN RACK. Race's to 7 on both sides. Call shot only. 10- ball does not count on the break and will be alternating breaks.

Personally, I like these rules. I do like the call shot. No slop here.

Since i am not involved, i dont think my opition matters, but..

If they are going to play like that, they mkght as well make it ball in hand after any miss, with call pocket.

That would speed things up and the best offense would rise to the top.

No names sorry, but I hear there's about 10 of the players already on he list say they're dropping out - supposedlybecause they don't care for the rules. Heard thru the grapevine, so we know how that goes so guess we'll see shortly.

Explain the rule problem please.

I hope not. Shitting a safe on a miss should be OK. If you shit in a ball though without properly calling it, then the incoming player should have the option of giving it back to you.

Oh, I heard it through the grapevine that a special order of 50 black Nightmare shirts was made especially for this event and will be available on a first-come/first-serve basis for a reduced price. They're already selling out like hotcakes. ;)

Tell me you have some XXL?

Sorry, dunno anything spceific. In my mind it's only $60 so who really cares anyway right? But you know how some are, and once more could just be people talking sheet ya know. I know I don't care for 10 and it's rules, but then again I don't play it either so no need to beech.

One thing that does kinda stick out for me though with this tournament and I suspect may be the issue is the alternate breaks. I can tell you 99% of all of the players that I know ( that might be able to put a pack together anyway ) hate alt breaks. From my experience , the scrubs are usually OK and happy with it as it gives them at least some kinda chance - to shoot a couple balls anyhow.

What I said though when I was told this was ; well why did they sign up in the first place - didn't everyone know the rules up front lolol?

JAM, as usual awesome pics! However, these were taken a bit before my time. If you have any, what I'd REALLY like to see if you have any is Geese in his famous overalls - which is how I always picture him as that's all he wore the entire time I knew him.You may have been asked this before but did Keith and Geese ever knock heads back in the day? If I had to guess I'd probably have to say no, as Geese was always flyin in low while Keith was on stage in the spot light .

Geese flyin low?!

That is crazy talk. If that bird was in the house, you knew it.

Locally, yeah for sure. But I'm talking about all the thousands of places he'd snap off across the country while out on the road ( which Jammy was there for most of it 😊 ). I think they had a real nice act together .
