Nice book list, for your 1P passion, alhpadog. Agreed.

In my library listings and category for One Pocket references, I have listed (along with Mr. Kohler's Science Of Pocket Billiards and the others you've shared) are:

Kohler, Jack H - Upscale One-Pocket; 1993

This next little gem is a fun read as well - I bet you'd enjoy it, sir!

Betz, Albert J - One-Pocket Man; 2006

I'll even send ya one of my extra copies if you haven't read it and would like one for your 1P section N/C of course.

Sounds interesting. I just put a copy in my Amazon cart.
Any other recommendations?

Your missing a really good one in your list.

One Pocket - A Game Of Controlled Aggression

Agreed. Imo, this is the best one-pocket book out there, and that's saying a lot because Eddie Robin's "Winning One Pocket" is excellent. A big thanks to Tom Wirth for the work he put into "A Game of Controlled Aggression".

On a more affordable scale, I found Jack Koehler's "Upscale One Pocket" to be very good also.

Ref "One-Pocket Man" by Albert Betz..... This is a great read, cool story. Not a lot of pool action, but still a great story.

Here are just a few quick ideas-

Off the top of my head - in the "interesting" pool stories/novel read category, check out these titles on ebay perhaps for less expensive, second-hand copies:

McGoorty by Robert Byrne

Billiards, Hustlers & Heroes, Legends & Lies and the Search for Higher Truth...by John Grissim

The Hustler & the Champ by R.A. Dyer

...and one of the most entertaining reads from the last decade is of course Running the Table - The Legend of Kid Delicious by John Wertheim.

This is a very short list of enjoyable reads for sure - and if you would like more suggestions or listings for other categories or genres within the cuesports section, fire off a PM with your email attached and I'll help any way possible.

99 critical shots is extremely overrated and gives terrible advice about rail cuts.

Best books I've read are probably Pleasures of Small Motions and Play Your Best 8-Ball

Upscale One Pocket is pretty good too

Don't get me wrong,for a 1pkt player Tom Wirth's book is a must have.
Since I had the "7" on my list for a long time, and are quite happy with them,I feel CONTROLLED AGGRESSION is a nice addition. Hence #8

Grishams book has 1 story in it that justifies the purchase price! I was roflmao!

There is quite a bit to learn from those books. Billiards play, not so much.

I guess I needed to be less subtle. If Byrne's Standard Book of Pool and Billiards isn't one of your top three(3) standard library books on playing pool, then you've missed out on what I consider THE handbook of pool. It doesn't seem conceivable that you wouldn't have it on your top three list, let alone seven.

And I'm not alone by a long shot.

Freddie <~~~ have we gone so far???
