Any good pool rooms to visit in Tampa or places to visit or recommended places to eat? I'm going to Tampa in November with my girlfriend for a tournament but I plan to fly in a day early and leave a day late.

Tiny 3 table room in St Pete. Called Flamingos. Tons of action history. 1 GC and 2 bar tables. Like a time warp, old and worn. Perfect...

You will be at the best pool room, Strokers. Get the Freddie shrimp, it's the best. Sponge docks in Tarpon springs has good Greek food and little shops. Clearwater beach is close. Honeymoon island state park is beautiful.

Wow...that brings back memories.

I was there in 1977 and watched a guy do trick shots.
That was the first I saw the "blind man spot shot."

I won a tournament there the same day. Great times!

Lived in Tampa in 1977. Learned how to play one handed from a guy named Brett.
That was at the 420 Bar on McDill. So many bars with pool tables in Tampa!

For good pizza I used to go to Godmother's or might of been Godfather's...LOL.
So long ago I just know it was about the best pizza I've ever had. I believe that was in Noth Tampa.

For poolrooms it was Varsity and Baker's. I miss my old life.....

I remember CJ said he played Cigar Tom at Flamingos down in FL back in the day.

A couple non-billiards related:

Hard Rock Seminole Casino in Tampa on Native land.

Ybor City (pronounced EE bore) for night life club scene.

I guess if you consider an HOUR ride to be "just north of Tampa" Capones is a nice room. Much closer is Strokers in Palm Harbor and Crooked Cue in Clearwater! Both are right on Hwy 19N. Like Dave said, the food is great at Strokers. Also, one place not to miss is the Crabby Bill's seafood restaurant in Indian Rocks (go to the end of Ulmerton at the beach, turn left)...fantastic seafood at reasonable prices.

Any one of the Frenchy"s on Clearwater beach gives Crabby Bills the break and the last four.

Some of the best LOCAL seafood, Goto Johns Pass--

Across the bridge from Gators--fun place to see lots of tourists and young tale, is a Awesome small restaurant for food--its called--WALTZs', Walt and his wife run the place and every morning they goto the local seafood market and local fisherman and get the days catch, they have a menu each day and once the supply is gone, then they mark off the menu item. Crab cakes are Awesome and all the carribean style rice and veggies are great too, just a bit of Spice.

Also, lots of good places to play pool that have already been mentioned,

Have a great trip and have Fun!!

Respectfully

Also, If you are a collector or are looking for some nice Pool cues or custom cases or collectibles items, I have about 70 cues setup at SidePockets--1970's to 1990's lots of New Old STock--Becker, Joss, Pechauer, Gulyassey, JW, Porper, Tad, Sailor, Helmstetter,Adam, Huebler, Huebler Custom-- on and on and on. Also, they have a good, handicapped tourney, 8-ball on winners side and 9 ball on losers side on Friday night, starts at 8pm. Also, I am there with an on-site Cuesmith Lathe and have the largest selection of tips in Florida to choose from, if you need any work done I would be happy to help you out.

Take care,

Is there any place not a hour away? Traffic in that town is horrendous.

Just got back, met a friend in Baluka’s in Brandon, traveling from St. Pete. I thought I was in Los Angeles.
