The Missing Mosconi Piece

Justin Bergman needs to be on this team! Now before you say he didn't qualify so he must not care about it enough to be on the team hear me out. He, himself, has said on this chat board that it's hard to justify going to these qualifiers when the money doesn't justify the expenses. That is common sense. If the sponsorship was out there I am guessing he would attend every qualifying tournament that is scheduled. Who wouldn't? When the coach is allowed to add a player(s), he should have been a lock. The US is bashing Filler because he is cocky and most importantly GOOD. Justin has that same "I don't give a F--- attitude" and is very good. He doesn't get rattled easily and handled himself very well their last year.
Would he make the complete difference, doubtful, but pool like other things is a game of momentum and if he makes a straight in 8 to get to the 9 and win a match or 2 Europe might have some of the pressure that US is obviously feeling.
That's all I got-Haters go ahead and tear this apart. Ready and begin........

Look here you no good son of $%@#$, you're spot on

He's not missing; he made a business decision not to play in many Mosconi points events. As great as he is, he wouldn't make a difference. Remember last year's 11-3 shellacking? He was on that team.

What's that business decision ?

the secret for success here, is we need a thriving pool culture, which we don't have.

Also a Revamp of teaching styles, Europe players take more from snooker players, and as such I feel they are more consistent.

Oh ye doubters of Barry Hearn...Johan Ruijsink is the missing link.

Barry decided the Americans needed a European to "teach" them how to play in a team fashion. (Insert fist bump) It's only 8-2. I'm sure Johan will have the troops ready far battle next time.
:p

I think Bergman is better than at least 2 or 3 players on the current team. I would like to see how this team would do- Shane, Bergman, archer, Morris, and Earl. They’d probably still lose, but it would be closer

and WAY more fun to watch...

We need 4 good NEW players to go along with Shane end of discussion

How many times is Shane going to dog it in these short races before people admit it's not his strength and he should take a break from it? All these years I have never once seen him look comfortable at the table in the Mosconi like he does in other events.

He is the weak link because he's supposed to be the rock and he never show up as such.

Strangely if he was replaced by Bergman the results may be closer.

We need the 5 players from Europe who almost made the team but didn't. That's about the only way we are going to be competitive.

How about scrapping the qualifying system and just have someone knowledgeable pick the team? Be sure and include some longstanding good players with some intestinal fortitude and some road - hustler style - players. They are still around, believe it or not, and they have what it takes to win. Our current players do not.

Here's the business decision Mr. Bergman made- it was too costly for him to travel and compete in enough Mosconi points events. He responded as such on one of the forums here. Probably a good decision too.

Do the euros qualify for MC points playing bar table events? Is the MC event played on bar tables?

So why in the hell are the US boys qualified on that basis.

Until that is AXED to DEATH, event will get performances like we have seen.

Big boys play on big tables.

(Cross posting to Matchroom hopefully reads this...)

I'm sure the road hustlers would sign up to have their true speed shown at MC matches

There were a few guys like that who came out of the woodwork for the IPT, but that's because the money was big enough

He probably could have made the team if he had wanted.

But he *chose* not to try.

So basically it was his call to not be on the team and he was not.
