Oscar Dominguez in UK tabloids, not good.

PLEASE explain the context.

with pool playing it is essential that you have excellent "touch" and cue ball control.

so, it is not uncommon to say you have the "touch" of a lumberjack versus saying you have the touch of a concert violinist.

in this context and when trying to cheer up your teammate after an overrun safety is not a malicious thing to do. Oscar used the "R" word instead of lumberjack or other references to a powerful entity with very little range of control regarding their own strength. A person that routinely breaks things and does not know their own strength.

I hope this elaborates and explains?

Much ado about absolutely nothing.

I guarantee you that under the heat you’d all be spouting profanities. I know I let one leak out, on camera, when I was playing JB and missed a shot halfway through what should have been a runout. And I spent half my life in front of cameras and microphones.

It happens.

And to all those sensitive snowflakes that are trying to parse what he said into something literally involving rapists, think about your mommy the next time you drop the f-bomb with a reference to her right in front.

Lou Figueroa
That's all good and fine. To me, it's not about the fact that some people are "sensitive", but if you condone this type of talk on TV by poolplayers, then don't ever ask why there is no money in pool.

Being a lumberjack isn’t a crime.
Being a concert violinist isn’t a crime.

I hope this elaborates and explains.

My view on Oscars comment is that we now we must all strive to become perfect and never say anything that offends anyone. I think I once read something about he who is perfect must cast the first stone.

A brief introduction to the world of metaphors.....ahem..

When one says "You've got a touch like an elephant."..........................
...it's NOT a signal to start talking about elephants.

They had been having fun the whole time. It was said in jest and wasn't meant to offend anyone. I personally like Oscar's personality. Much better than Filler's in my opinion. He had given his partner several compliments before that. I've said things in meeting that were off the hip or knee jerk reactions.

I'm not at all offended by what he said. But if I was playing on tv and being mic'd up. I probably would have been a little more careful with my humor.

explains what???

What does crime have to do with anything???

You can touch a woman lovingly and gentile in one reference or touch the woman firmly or harshly. According to 50 shades of gray rough activity is not necessarily illegal and in some cases smiled upon by the women involved. His comment is not to glorify illegal activity. it was a reference to rough sex versus gentile loving sex. You know this and are again being argumentative. I should have never peaked at your post and left you on ignore as I rightfully had you on just minutes ago.

There’s too much stupid in this post to respond to.

Didn't know so many snowflakes played pool.

This might as well just go to NPR at this point.
Most pool players could care less about the joke Oscar made. But when trying to get out to the masses and expand your audience to the average person, that joke will crash the plane before it gets off the ground.

funny, you can't respond in an educated manner on the topic and revert to name calling a clear rule violation!!!

I should have expected as much!

Au revoir

kd

I didn’t call you anything. Learn to read. I said there was too much stupid in your post. You can call a person’s actions stupid, without calling them stupid. It’s called context. It was that lesson you were trying to teach us, remember?

I think that framing that word in the context it was used in it could mean a couple of things.
Definitely poor choice of words, but this crowd, more than most, I wouldn't expect to take
that statement literally. Probably better to have said "a bit of a criminal" or "a bit of a thief"
something like that. Not a big deal, unless you choose to make it so

Complain about the lack of professionalism of the player what about the network? Too much bother and expense to employ the 10 second delay used for decades to control live event crassness? Oh wait that takes effort. Pool can only be broadcast on the cheap.

One of the top snooker players in England was caught fixing matches with some Russians wasn't he?

Clean up your own house.

I heard the comment as it happened and it definitely made me laugh. The people who are upset about it are making me laugh even more. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Can't wait to see what Filler does today that will trigger these people. They might start petitioning to ban pool tables.

I'm not taking any particular side on the point you guys are arguing but I always feel compelled to say something when I see this used in a debate where one side in trying to buttress their side of it by using 'we' or 'us' to give the appearance that they have many in agreement with them.

In fact, in this case, KD was simply responding to (not "teach", imo) you, and not "us".

You asked him to explain the context of Oscar's comment and that's what it looked like, to me, that he tried to do.

carry on. :)

best,
brian kc
