Maybe you're right. Perhaps the corporate money will come rolling in now that we're showing pool for what it really is -- a retreat for the unrefined. I'll stand corrected when this happens.
The corporate money has a plethora of options regarding content. There is a content war going on, in the most competitive media market of all time.
Pool has never been an " event " sport that will fill stadiums and sport arenas. The whole way to promote pool is to create stars and that the pool world has not done.
When a world champion walks into a pool hall only a few folks recognize that person. As long as that continues to happen don't bet on pool attracting the corporate dough.
Its always shocked me that pool could not hold on to the beer brewers as a lot of practitioners of the game drink beer.
Folks expect their rock stars to be outlaws and there is and was a ton of corporate money in that game. Cleaning up pool will take away all its character and won't work.
In fact, some of these big one pocket matches are starting to see real money but if the bet was a like a million dollars that would pull in some eyes.
These poker players out in Vegas have access to big money. Maybe some of these poker players throw a tournament out in Vegas with big money gambling in it. Now that is compelling. Maybe they do it every year and it becomes an " event ".
They could call it the " players " tournament. Players only love you when they're playing baby!!!!!
What is exciting is folks fighting it out for the money not traveling across the globe to play for cab fare.
You want eyes on the content then, sho me the money!!!!!!
