Oscar Dominguez in UK tabloids, not good.

I actually agree. I thought the phrase was funny, and I'm a female. It did not offend me one bit. I was going to use it the other day on an international thread about Chinese 8-ball, but I feared, like what happened to Oscar, the interpretation of English words would be misinterpreted. :embarrassed2:

What does your gender have to do with it?

Finding something inappropriate doesn't always mean you're offended by it. Just means you find it inappropriate.

There is a movie called "call me by your name" that is up for several awards this year.

It's about an adult gay guy's sexual affair with a 17 year old boy. Rolling stone called it the most romantic movie of the year.

Please liberal hypocrites, give me a personal break. Move over and give yourselves some talking room.

JC

And what is the problem with that? The age of consent in Italy is 14, so a sexually active 17 year old is perfectly normal.

Or is this yet another example of you crying about the world not working the way you want it to?

Blue Jam...do you really think he's praising rape here...seems to me he's dissing it.
...the @#%# PC world is hearing what it wants to hear.

Geniepool is still playing it...turn the sound up and then find a safe place to cry...

No, I don't think he's "praising rape", nothing I've posted could lead anyone with basic comprehension skills to think that.

I am amused by the irony of someone complaining about the world being too PC while also bleeping their own expletives, so thanks for the laugh.

That's not a good option for those in the public eye who need sponsorship and investment dollars to make ends meet. Unrefined conduct in the game reduces the likelihood that new investors will put their money in producing pool. To be honest, many pool players have taken the f'em view when it comes to their conduct, and it, in part, this has kept pool from attracting investment from outside of the industry.

With all due respect you don’t know what you are talking about. The “ Hustler “was a movie about a pool hustler and his whacked out girlfriend who suffered from a myriad of emotional problems and physical maladies.

She liked to go on benders and get wild. Finally culminating in a death spiral.

It featured ruthless backers, gritty characters and hardcore gamblers. It was anything but a white shoe expose of the country club.

This one movie did more for pool than Brunswick corporation ever did. Most of the games greats are hardly debutantes and trust fund babies.

The game to use a common platitude “ is what it is “.

My ex wife was known to insist on tea and then be so drunk she would stop drinking the tea with half a cup left and go to sleep. There I was with half a cup and nowhere to dump it.

Would make me clumsy and prone to spilling the rest of the tea on her.

Maybe she needed something stronger to keep her awake?

Could have put a pot of coffee on for her but she would probably get all butt hurt about that.

She wasn't much of a coffee drinker.

So what you're saying, using metaphors because I presume you're too ashamed to use plain English, is that you think that in certain circumstances, it's perfectly acceptable to rape someone?

Maybe you're right. Perhaps the corporate money will come rolling in now that we're showing pool for what it really is -- a retreat for the unrefined. I'll stand corrected when this happens.

The corporate money has a plethora of options regarding content. There is a content war going on, in the most competitive media market of all time.

Pool has never been an " event " sport that will fill stadiums and sport arenas. The whole way to promote pool is to create stars and that the pool world has not done.

When a world champion walks into a pool hall only a few folks recognize that person. As long as that continues to happen don't bet on pool attracting the corporate dough.

Its always shocked me that pool could not hold on to the beer brewers as a lot of practitioners of the game drink beer.

Folks expect their rock stars to be outlaws and there is and was a ton of corporate money in that game. Cleaning up pool will take away all its character and won't work.

In fact, some of these big one pocket matches are starting to see real money but if the bet was a like a million dollars that would pull in some eyes.

These poker players out in Vegas have access to big money. Maybe some of these poker players throw a tournament out in Vegas with big money gambling in it. Now that is compelling. Maybe they do it every year and it becomes an " event ".

They could call it the " players " tournament. Players only love you when they're playing baby!!!!!

What is exciting is folks fighting it out for the money not traveling across the globe to play for cab fare.

You want eyes on the content then, sho me the money!!!!!!

That's a solid, well-reasoned post. Thanks for sharing your views.

There are circumstances where the modern feminist mind sees rape that I do not. If that's what your asking then yes, there are times some peoples definition of rape is acceptable behavior in my mind.

Do you have actual interest in considering and understanding in an honest way a point of view?

or are you fishing for an opportunity to slap down a response that garners a bunch of "me too"s ....

Okay, Mr Page, I am interested in your point of view here..I admire your intellect.
....there will be no back-sassin' from me.....I just want to hear it.
I admit it, I was pretty good at game-making...but I'll hold my tongue.

pt...thought he was done with this thread

I do think that PC has gone to ridiculous extremes.....
...but I haven't gone to the other extreme.
I tend not to swear or tell racy jokes in mixed company...
...and I hate people swearing around children.

It never ends.

The dreaded PC hypocrites, me no like them. Oscar seems like a decent man from a decent family and I liked seeing his Mother and Father in the stands supporting their son.

No way any one is convincing me Oscar has any good thoughts or feelings towards a rapist, or any thing close to it so who ever is giving him a bad time over one comment in his life, spoken in the heat of competition, should go take an honest look in the mirror.

Look at his life and the fine people who raised him. Pool needs more players and families like his family.

But if someone makes jokes that other people think are as inappropriate as you think swearing around children is, that’s just being too sensitive? Nice double standard.

At least you don’t think rape is ok in certain circumstances like some of the more unsavoury members do.

Or an obnoxious dishonest twit like some of the other ones.;)

There will NEVER be any corporate $$$ for pool, EVER!

The game is too boring to watch and too hard to play.

But carry on with this nonsense about corporate $

Unrefined? You mean like all the celebrities, congressman, clergy and such that are in the news all the time for rape(sexual misconduct) that's what they call it when you are refined right?

No thanks, I'll stick with the deplorables and unrefined.

Be careful, it's a long fall off that high horse you're riding around on.
